Nick Algar - Competition Secretary Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 OK, so it's a bit of a stupid question because the answer should obviously be yes, but is that actually the case. I think last 2 winters they had all run out by now and you couldn;t get them for love nor money. But anyone in the tyre trade that actually knows ? Quote
pistonbroke Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 Do Winter Tyres Go Down In Price If Summer only if you have a puncture Quote
XTR2Turbo Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 I bought some for my mini last year. They were definitely a few quid cheaper when I bought in September compared to October. Having said that alot of tyre prices seem all other the place since the Tsunami. Also I found price very sensitive to the size. On my mini much cheaper to buy 16" and a slightly narrower section compared to the summer fit 18" tyres. I paid £51 each for the winters in 16 and 18 were nearer £90. I chucked them on some old ebay wheels that cost £100 Quote
GreigM Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 Definitely, i bought my winters in july and they were 65 quid a corner, by december they were 135 Quote
AidanPlace Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 I see qwik fit were offering 25% off all their winter tyres recently - obviously over ordered Quote
Matt Seabrook Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 Winter tyres are cheaper in the summer that's for sure. I would think there are going to be some deals around very soon if the weather does not get too cold. We did not buy in winter tyres this year as it was too big a risk for a small retailer like us. The tyre manufactures asked their distribution centres how may winter tyres they wanted last summer. The distribution centres asked the wholesalers how many winter tyres they would order in August. The wholesalers asked us retailers how many winter tyres we wanted to order in August for delivery in September to be paid for by the end of October. What ever you ordered you could not return for credit if you did not want them. So the long and short of it the only people that could loose on this was the retailers at the end of the day. We just dont have space to fill our store up with winter tyres if we have not sold them by the end of January. Quote
