Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman
Not at all, but with tools (like cars) it is hard to tell if they have been abused by a previous owner. I have no trouble getting stuff 2nd hand from folk I trust, but if I'm leaning full on onto a pry bar I want to know if somebody else has tried to lift an oil tanker with it previously and if it might let go and send me ass over tip. Same with me, I've got a variety of second hand bits like that - including some normally big ticket items like my compressor. But they're either from someone I trust not to have been attacking oil tankers, or tools where it's hard to really abuse, or in the case of the compressor, it didn't work and I rebuilt it and then finished off the three phase to single phase conversion by doing the bits whoever had previously tried to convert it, hadn't realised needed doing too! KugaWestie
Halfords occasionally knock out a pro-tool set or spanners/sockets/ratchets etc for a very good price, I picked one up last year for something like £70 instead of £200! This one I think http://www.halfords.com/motoring/garage-equipment/socket-sets/halfords-advanced-professional-150-piece-socket-ratchet-spanner-set

dombanks
cant say as i would fault some of the clark hand tools, did me fine to build my car. i did replace them with teng which are very nice. on the cab front i bought a halfords professional (the red one not black) 4 draw cabinet and think for what i use it for is really good. draws are smooth and it all feels quite sturdy. they always seem have deals on in my local store for a base thingy on wheels, the middle box and the top box with a flip up lid. Jonk179
Costco have a good toolbox at the moment for about £450, it's a 42 inch 6 drawer top chest and 42 inch 10 drawer bottom box.
