Tonsko Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 Hey all, Reading the Trackday 2012 thread has got me thinking. I bought the westie for a more involving drive on the road than my R, but also so that I could enjoy some thrills and spills on trackdays/hillclimbs. Reading my Frank Pickles insurance bumpf tells me that they do not offer trackday stuff. Has anyone got any recommendations on who to go with? I can google obv. but I'm sure there's good and bad out there. Cheers Quote
Mark (smokey mow) Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 Adrian Flux did it as an option when I was with them a couple of years back. I'm now with REIS (formally Richard Egger Insurance) and my policy provides cover for upto 4 trackdays as standard with an option to pay extra for more if needed. Excess for trackdays is higher than for road though at 10% of the insured value. Quote
XTR2Turbo Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 I think a few offer it such as the names mentioned and also Competition Car Insurance. They will need you to notify them and can have conditions on who the organisers are. Quote
8pots Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 Agreed with XTRTurbo with Competition Car plus also try REIS Mike Quote
Tonsko Posted January 10, 2012 Author Posted January 10, 2012 Whythangyou. How do I find out loud my exhaust is? Quote
Tonsko Posted January 10, 2012 Author Posted January 10, 2012 Also: How do you go on for fuel? Is a full tank generally enough? (SBD C20XE, jenveys etc.). Quote
SteveH Posted January 10, 2012 Posted January 10, 2012 Even with a "long range" tank I refill during the day, there is fuel available on site at the bigger circuits but I tend to take a couple of 20ltr cans along. Easiest way to get noise tested is to pop along to your nearest circuit that does static testing when there is a trackday on and ask them to test you, they will generally do this no problem; what area are you in? Tonsko Posted January 10, 2012 Author Posted January 10, 2012 Cheers Steve! Do the tracks charge a premium for fuel (i.e. 'motorway' prices)? I'm based in Shrewsbury, so I guess Loton Park is the place to go. Quote
SteveH Posted January 10, 2012 Posted January 10, 2012 I don't know if Loton do any trackdays or what their test facilities are but Oulton Park is less than an hour away for you and they have plenty of trackdays coming up so you could get tested in time to book in for our day there on March 2nd Fuel is usually a few pence more than local prices but that's all. Tonsko Posted January 10, 2012 Author Posted January 10, 2012 I'm intending to come to Oulton! Will be my first track day Are there finite places? Quote
SteveH Posted January 10, 2012 Posted January 10, 2012 It's first come first served and we are limiting bookings to keep plenty of space on track. The last one (November) booked up about six weeks before the event but these days sell a bit slower early in the year, I'd say just book as soon as you can. Quote
Tonsko Posted January 11, 2012 Author Posted January 11, 2012 Ok, I have booked it. REIS quoted me 120 for the one day - I should have phoned around a bit more before getting my road insurance. Oh well. Quote
SteveH Posted January 11, 2012 Posted January 11, 2012 If you want to try another quote talk to Mark or Richard at CCI 0115 968 2435, tell them I said to give them a try and that you are doing one of the Trackaction days. I'd be interested to hear how they compare. Quote
