I got slightly drunk over christmas and to make up for the s**t presents I had bought the misses promised to buy her a car!

Thinking maybe a mazda5 - what does a 58 plate sport diesel with 35000 book at? Anybody any experience?

Plus what's happening out in the market at the moment?

Oioi

Ps if I get the wife a family car then I can have something a bit of fun as a daily driver  :)  :)

lesson 1 ,dont get drunk and make promisses

your best guide would be to look on autotrader or better still ebay ,that will give you a idea at what they are actually selling for and not just what there up at

there is no real pattern at the moment in the trade ,stuff will allways shift at the right money ,dealers are nearly allways quiete the few weeks before xmas and usually pick straight after new year ,right car right price will allways sell

Parkers have a guide on the net but every time I've brought up Parkers or Glass's when buying a car the dealers they say these guides are a pile of BS and they don't follow them.

Walked away from a couple of cars when dealers start on that excuse because it looks like an excuse for ripping people off by selling above the book price.

autotrader is the best guide can you can get, its easy to gauge if a car is over priced on a like for like search  :t-up:

Auotrader's always been a good guide.

This was a few years back and I think it was down to the market being propped up by cheap loans and it seemed everyone had a brand new number plate on their car, the market was too bouyant and dealers round here were getting too confident in what they thought cars were worth.

Autotrader is always what I look at.

Like has been said before, you can spot an overpriced car by comparing to others.

Likewise, you can spot something that's cheap or indeed too cheap as well.

Quite like the mazda 5's in the higher spec guise. Certainly one of the nicer people carriers. Most car like driving position of all the ones I've sat in-really helps get rid of the feeling that you are driving a Van ;)

They make very low money through the auctions, and I'm under the impression there's a good reason for it !!!This applies to petrol, diesel, manual and auto.

Have an ask about and a read up, see what you can find out, and you'll see what I mean........Sorry

Ive had a reasonable nose around, read the various fourms etc and Apart from tyre wear issues, the reliability does not seem much worse than any other car??????

Sadly nothing is bomb proof and all is built to a price. So long as it is not as bad as my old lacuna I will be happy
