Rory's Dad Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 I've lost one of the two keys for the car. Just googled key replacement and very quickly got lost. I guess going to the main dealer is the quickest and most reliable and expensive way forward but what about something somewhat cheaper?? Fo info it's a flip key wih two buttons, one to lock, the other, yes you've guessed it, to unlock. Any advice gratefully received. Rory's Dad Quote
GreigM Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 You may be able to get a "spare" key made by the likes of Timpson or other key cutters - it won't have the buttons/remote functions, but would work as an old fashioned key which you stick in the lock and it'll open and start the car. They have a device they stick the key into and it'll tell them if they can "duplicate" the immobiliser codes from the existing key. There are sellers on ebay who seem to sell your key for £10-£15 and one of them can even cut the key for you if you have the key number (should have been supplied with the new one), but you'd need to figure out if this would work without dealer programming the key to the car - you may be able to buy the key from ebay and have the dealer program it, saving some money. The most reliable method is the dealer...I'd try Timpson first, and if they say they can't do it, then the keys from ebay are unlikely to be much use. Quote
SteveD Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 if your in the aa or rac they can do it at very reasonable cost ,come to your house do a bit of voodoo and hey presto a new key all working Quote
