wookie Posted November 16, 2003 Posted November 16, 2003 i have aquired a set of oz alloys with an offset of ET37, westfield say there's is ET35, will 2mm make much difference? or can i get a machine shop to remove 2mm off the back face? Oh also does anyone know of a good wheel re-finisher in the herts/beds/bucks area?, coz i've noticed one has been curbed, got a flat spot on it, only slight tho. many thanks Steve Quote
Blatman Posted November 16, 2003 Posted November 16, 2003 Besides which, you need to add 2mm, in the shape of a spacer......... Quote
flanker7 Posted November 20, 2003 Posted November 20, 2003 Just spoke to WF, Mark Says they are running ET37 offset and nothing else will do!!! Quote
Terry Everall Posted November 20, 2003 Posted November 20, 2003 Also depends what car /chassis/age I run et16 on 7"x15" rims 205x50x15 tyres ( SEIW 1992)and agree tha 2mm to 3 mm is not worth worrying about.Original Westfield supplied wheels were et14 from Rimstock The more modern cars do run et37/38 but rear wishbones are longer. If I tried et 37 the inner rim would touch the inner body panel!!!! Hence I run 20mm spacers with these wheels and you need long wheel studs! Hope this helps Quote
Fat Albert Posted November 20, 2003 Posted November 20, 2003 Try Pristine, they did a good job for me Pristine Alloy Wheel Refurbishers Ltd Newport Road Woburn Sands Milton Keynes MK17 8UD Buckinghamshire Tel: 01908 282628 Fax: 01908 281093 PS the link isn't working at this time, I suspect that their server/ISP has a problem, it is (was) the right address Quote
flanker7 Posted November 20, 2003 Posted November 20, 2003 Is this for 6" or 7" wide rims? 6.5" I was told by WF. So if i have a wheel with a ET24 but need a ET38 do I put in spacers or have I got this the wrong way round again Quote
Terry Everall Posted November 20, 2003 Posted November 20, 2003 et24 puts the wheel further outboard than et38. If you put in a spacer (eg 10mm) this will move wheel even further outboard giving et14 and getting closer to your external arches of the bodywork. You cannot make et24 into et38 !! BUT try and fit wheels and tyres in place to see if they fit. Quote
flanker7 Posted November 20, 2003 Posted November 20, 2003 Thanks Terry, I don't have the wheels yet, I was just looking at buying some from a member which were ET24. I'll just have to keep looking for some ET38 or a similar. Just found out though that Halfrauds have got 4 x 6 spoke Ripspeed for £299.00 with the right offset for me so probably go for them. Quote
gregh Posted November 20, 2003 Posted November 20, 2003 btw I had 15" et37 on my 99 SEiW, Westfield advised me that ET24 would be fine on 13" wheels. regards, greg Quote
