well.... collected the Porsche earlier after being away for the exhaust.... all good..... washed the wheels and sills off any salt and used the electric windows when                      " bang"...

the drivers window dropped....... vanished into the door.... looks like the door trim off and re align the window into the motor....... if its not one thing its another   LOL

Time to get rid mate !!!

Good time of year to buy a Westfield I would think. (No wind up window issues with them!)

Jay, it will be very windy with the window open, you'd be better off in a Westie  :D

Jay, you are a b****y harbinger of doom.... :bangshead:  :bangshead:

Out in the freezing cold in my daily driver Scooby, just getting over a big bout of man-flu. Dropped the passenger window to speak to a chap at Aldon Engineering this morning, drove off (with a booty of Weber carb bits), only to find that the window didn't want to come back up.

Drove home with heater on full, window down. Just wrestled it back up after taking the door casing off, b****y 'leccy mech has thrown a wobbly.....

.. and just to add insult to injury have just sold my van, the Merc is sorned, and it might be a bit cold in the buggy....Only other car her at the moment is wfeys Megane..

Still on the positive side, me and wifey are out with some old friends tonight and I was designated driver, not any more..... :t-up:  :t-up: Hic!

jay the window will more than likely be where the regulator fixes to the glass itself. Usually manufacturers glue a U clamp to the bottom edge of the glass which has a bolt hole to fasten to the regulator. Chances are the glue or bolts have failed. Iv seen that a few times at work where you operate the electric window down and not notice its not actually gone down.. Then woomp! its off. Regulator leaves it behind glass held in the glass channel only.

sounds like the exact fault tex, I am assuming a strong silicone may work ?

well im not sure about that we use a very specialised stuff - maybe a PU adhesive like sikaflex type stuff will work - i would warm the glass with a hairdrier first and make sure you spirit wipe the area to be glued [presuming the glue has failed of course] could just be the bolts or the brackety type bit that has snapped? never know till you open it up

edited to add - if you have to glue it make sure you measure to the exact point where to re position the new part - or the glass will sit tipped in the channel or wont run smoothly
