nikpro Posted December 6, 2011 Posted December 6, 2011 Go with the 1800 and dont look the gift horse in the mouth as I always seem to do and end up paying through the nose for the privelidge That would be my decision as well John. The sale of the 'spare' 2ltr would subsidise the purchase and the 1800 is a known engine from the club that will have been well looked after - the 2ltr has an unknown history. Quote
dombanks Posted December 6, 2011 Posted December 6, 2011 buy timmeh's. the throttle bodies/ecu would cost more on their own. that package is everything you need. inc gear box and exhaust. you cant go wrong. theoretically cos its everyhting i would hazard a guess you wont even need to go to a rolling road session to get it running right. if you dont like it later swap for something else like the st170 engine whereby you'll have the tbs etc already. edt:if i had 1200 quid id consider buying it just to get the red jenveys to swop for my black ones and then flogging the rest on ebay. i wouldnt worry too much about 78K on a zetec. mine had about that and came from a scrap yard for £250 and is (touch wood) running fine Quote
perksy Posted December 6, 2011 Posted December 6, 2011 The other advantage with buying Tims is that you will be able to hear it in the car (if your quick) Personally i'm always abit cautious if the engine is out of the car and you can't check oil pressure or hear it run etc Quote
