J.Clarkson Mode On:

What we need is carpet bombing (with cluster bombs), of sink estates or anywhere where the benefits claimants number above 25% of the local populace.....

I'm a big fan of Clarkson, BUT.........

I lived on various 'sink estates' for a number of years, I've never been out of work in nearly 48years working life.

My Dad lived on 'sink estates' til' the day he died, I dont remember him ever being out of work.

There are thousands of decent people living on 'sink estates'

Still wanna bomb 'sink estates'?

I was being facetious Paul, hence the usage of Clarkson mode... :D

Guess what? I don't really wanna bomb anyone... :D  :D

Personally I find Clarkson occasionally amusing, mostly irritating and largely irrelevant...

He certainly has no real perception of what the "average" working family has to endure... :bangshead:

What we really need to change is some of the youthful perception of benefits as a permanent catchall for lazy neer do wells... Pensioners certainly aren't the problem...

i know a millionare and a couple of  multi millionairs who have a bus pass and get heating allowance ,and actually joke about it ,its just plain wrong they can claim heating allowance and bus pass , so the govermant are justified in my eyes

It is not a question of claiming heating allowance etc the fact is you have no choice but are given it. There are a number of 'well known' individuals who are considerably well off and don't wish the heating allowance but would you believe there is no mechanism to return the payment.

My own view is rather than penalise the elderly who by and large have contributed to the economy in some form or another then they should get rid of child benefit. - if you cannot afford one dont have one

there is a scheme that the more people who have a social conscience can donnate their allowance to the charity who will then redistribute it to people who need it.

donate your fuel allowance

Pretty much sums it up, in my 30s, my generation have lost confidence in the 'system'. Why pay tax in when we are all assuming we'll get nothing out the other end? Cancelled the 2nd state pension contirbution to pay into a private pension and the state are opting us all back in now.

My generation's view is you sort yourself out, nobody will help you s no point in helping others. It's a very selfish view but necessary when the government and businesses go into penny-pinching mode.
