markg Posted November 5, 2002 Posted November 5, 2002 rowan atkinson was first man to trash a mclaren f1 so i wouldnt ask him for a lift! Quote
gee_fin Posted November 6, 2002 Posted November 6, 2002 Couple of things, missed the XTR2 one but - Erm, wasn't the Zonda's time on a wet/moist track? 11s to 100mph isn't really all that much to write home about for a £30k kit-car (especially when the R500 is now sub 8s). 1.2g is not very good either, unless they were on standard road tyres, which I would presume they weren't, you'd want to see 1.4g for decent rubber and more if they have the downforce producing shell that they claim. Kudos to them for beating the Zonda and getting some top advertising in, however, I wouldn't bet a pint of milk that the record will stand for any signifcant amount of time. All it'll take is a modified R500 (one of the JCC ones that are still coming home ahead of the factory car) or an SR3 and that record will be seconds down the road..... Not meaning to dampen the enthusiasm but it does need to be tempered Quote
Matt Seabrook Posted November 6, 2002 Posted November 6, 2002 The car had to be road legal so I think that road tyres had been fitted although they looked like Avon ACB10`s Quote

david.c Posted November 7, 2002 Posted November 7, 2002 JUST WATCHED MY VIDEO OF THE WESTFIELD AND THOUGHT IT WAS AWESOME. Certainly a good scoop for Westfield getting it on Top Gear. I assumed that it was on road tyres as it had to be road legal. Just wish I still had the zonda lap on tape to compare the straight speeds, corner G's etc. Thought the Grannies doing donuts was fun Smell the rubber. David Quote
Mark Stanton Posted November 7, 2002 Posted November 7, 2002 I assumed that it was on road tyres as it had to be road legal. Dangerous thing assumptions - especially where television and media are concerned Quote
deadscoob Posted November 8, 2002 Posted November 8, 2002 If the cars have to be road legal I'd assume that rules the Radicals out? Or have they got one through SVA now? now if you could squeeze the Paganis engine in the Xtr2...... Quote
david.c Posted November 8, 2002 Posted November 8, 2002 Mark Does that mean you know it was on slicks? Cheers David Quote
peterg Posted November 8, 2002 Posted November 8, 2002 Deadscoob...I think you'll find there's some road legal Radical SR3s out there somewhere Quote
CateringVan Posted November 8, 2002 Posted November 8, 2002 I think Richard Ince has a road-legal SR3 (he's another Cateringvan owner who races an R500) Quote
Mark Stanton Posted November 8, 2002 Posted November 8, 2002 Does that mean you know it was on slicks? They didn't look like slicks cos they're not road legal are they Neither did they look to have toooooooooooooooo much tread from what was seen on the TV, must have been a refraction of the light Did you believe Jez when he said it had a 1300 Hyabusa engine in the back No-one saw it It could have been a 6 litre V8, or a Judd V10 Quote
gee_fin Posted November 10, 2002 Posted November 10, 2002 I don't think Richard Ince's SR3 is road-legal. In fact, I don't think I've seen a road-legal one yet. You'd be sacrificing a fantastic track-car in order to go to Sainsbury's once a week. I still can't understand how the XTR2 and the SR3 can pass SVA. A mind-boggingly impressive wad of cash in the right pocket I presume I mean, those headlights! The splitters LOL Top work Radical and Westfield [+] Quote
Chris Elworthy Posted November 10, 2002 Posted November 10, 2002 Is there another challenger on tonight's programme ? Quote
david.c Posted November 10, 2002 Posted November 10, 2002 Sure hope so Looking forward to the racing holy men I wonder if they will get them doing handbrake a nd 'J' turns David Quote
deadscoob Posted November 11, 2002 Posted November 11, 2002 Westie front splitter is made out of F1 type material (wood ) - so you either don't fit it for SVA or trim it to body. Then go B&Q, pick up a sheet of 8x4 and make another 2 - we're gonna cut one jagged at the front - DeathRace 2000 style Headlkights were actually very easy - car just has to be raised a "little" Would like to see what the SR3 is like if it can actually pass SVA - front lights, front wing ducts, splitter, side skirt thingies, instruments - thought all that would fail. I know what reaction ours gets on the road, so in a Radical it'd be hilarious Quote
