DavidC Posted November 3, 2002 Posted November 3, 2002 A lesson in how to sell your products, Westfield Style. Very nice indeed DC Quote
Matt Seabrook Posted November 3, 2002 Posted November 3, 2002 F*****g awesome. That should get them going on Blatchat Quote
Brucester Posted November 3, 2002 Posted November 3, 2002 I saw that, it was awesome, they will be selling like hot cakes now! A 22k car that is quicker than the Zonda. Awesome Quote
Blatman Posted November 3, 2002 Posted November 3, 2002 I'm off to Blatchat, 'cos they'll be beside themsleves....... Should be good for a laugh....... Quote
Chris Elworthy Posted November 3, 2002 Posted November 3, 2002 Blimey! that was good. Well done Westfield. Now what are the realistic challengers ? Quote
DavidBirchZEI220 Posted November 3, 2002 Posted November 3, 2002 Excellent Only bummer is that I didn't know it was going to be on there (even the factory did say anything - I assume sworn to silence) so didn't record it. If anyone did I'd love a copy. Email me offline and I'll buy a copy. Collect my XTR2 kit in 2 weeks - got me all excited again. Suddenly Top Gear is a great programme again. David Quote
Mark Stanton Posted November 3, 2002 Posted November 3, 2002 Methinks there'll be a Cateringvan R500 appear very soooooooon So rain dances for the next few weeks Suddenly Top Gear is a great programme again. Medication for Mr. Birch Quote
Chris Elworthy Posted November 3, 2002 Posted November 3, 2002 Just been on Blatchat to see reaction as suggested by Blatters. It must be said that the Blatchat reaction is very positive in that they recognise a job well done, and that records are there to be broken. We all complain about the Kit-Car industry from time to time, with the price of this and the service level for that, but just think how people who pay Zonda sort of money must feel now! and i'll bet it ain't reliable. I AM NOT A NUMBER!!! Posted November 3, 2002 Posted November 3, 2002 Methinks there'll be a Cateringvan R500 appear very soooooooon ….not if the producers have to ring the factory and speak with the salesmen it won’t. Quote
DavidBirchZEI220 Posted November 3, 2002 Posted November 3, 2002 Easily pleased !!! Then again I only saw the last 15 mins as stuck in a jam on M1. Thankfully missed the grannies promised last week. David Quote
DavidC Posted November 3, 2002 Author Posted November 3, 2002 I would like to see what the MK Engineering GT1 with a Busa engine would do on that Top Gear challenge. Afterall, that would be a £10k car, I'd be very interested to compare the lap times. Quote
DavidBirchZEI220 Posted November 3, 2002 Posted November 3, 2002 Perhaps the SBD boys should have a go but doubt there will be another Westfield. My vote would be an Ultima or Z cars twin engine Tiger. Quote
Nick Algar - Competition Secretary Posted November 3, 2002 Posted November 3, 2002 David The MK was at Elvington earlier this year, and it didn't seem to have the handling sorted. Hopefully they have done so by now. I think this is the real difference between the standard car and the XTR2, downforce and less drag. Nick Quote
westy Posted November 3, 2002 Posted November 3, 2002 I believe Westfield got the chance to go on Top Gear as their offering is just plain different. No doubt the BBC had already considered the normal c******m, Westfield and other type 7 derivatives but their nothing new or radical. To go with the new funky image of Top Gear the XTR2 would have been a natural choice.....there again if they put a 1.1 VX corsa on next week I stand corrected! Well done Westfield that would of saved them millions in advertising... Quote
