the bear Posted November 9, 2003 Posted November 9, 2003 This is an embarassing question, but sod it here goes. I have my first Westfield, bought as a finished car. I need to know where the front and rear jacking points are . I have a build manual, but the picture is best described as vague, i.e not worth jack s##t. It shows the points as on the side of the car!! - Now even I knew that! Where is the strongest part of the chassis front and rear? better pictures or dimensions from a recognisable bit would be brill. Also do I need to modify my normal jack top plate in any way? It is round and sort of cupped with slots in the walls. Quote
Westfieldman Posted November 9, 2003 Posted November 9, 2003 Rear under the diff Front under the outer end of the wishbone for one wheel or under the box section behind the rad for both wheels I made some steel box section suports that span the rear of the car that fits just under the bulkhead and goes the full width of the chassie when off the ground I use this to hold the car up on axel stands The front one spans the front suspension box just behind the rad. You can see the front one in this picture the rear is just longer. Paul. Quote
Mark Stanton Posted November 9, 2003 Posted November 9, 2003 And when jacking / supporting on chassis use some pieces of softwood or old towel folded over to save damaging the powder-coating / painting of chassis Quote
Westfieldman Posted November 9, 2003 Posted November 9, 2003 Mark if you look carefully ou can see the foam strip on the front support. Paul. Quote
