No where does it say that I cant post on here, it just says that i cant post adverts. You dont do yourself any favours trying to promote your club or entice new members!

Hi mate, has the search for a Westy begun in ernest?

This is a great club and rescourse and of course you are welcome as is anybody.

The mods have a difficult job and will delete posts that for whatever reason they feel are inappropriate.

You won't in most cases get an email ect to explain why as they have day jobs too.

I think that this a bigger community then the VX220org and the rules differ from board to board too (still getting used to the VXboard)

It's nothing personal.

Give me an Email if you need help.

Chaz.

Ha ha, fancy meeting you on here! blimey, its hard getting a post on this site without someone deleting it.

I was a member a few years ago for quite a while when I had my last Westy, I went to local meets too! I'll become a paid up member if I buy a Westy but I do find it strange that you cant post on the cars for sale section if you're not a member, there must be plenty of people who aren't members who want to post on that section?

Must admit, I've been looking at Caterhams too (Caterhams is two miles from me so it would make sense). It really is a buyers market out there so Im taking my time especially as the Winters months are now upon us.

Tbh it would make more sense if sellers put there phone number on the advert if they want to be contacted  :durr:   :D  :p

I often delete my own posts , its great fun to do when you get fed up with playing minesweeper   :p

try the "edit " option  :t-up:

As I had already mentioned, I am in the process of buying a 'seven' it may be a Westy, it may be a Caterham (there may be something else that may tempt me!) Which ever car I buy will determine which club I join!

Congratulations Lordbenny; I think this might just be your longest lasting thread so far!  ;)  :p  :D  :D  :D

I'm going to agree with Lordbenny here - I had the same issue when buying my first Westfield.  I  agree with the position that its not reasonable to expect people to join the club before buying a car, especially if they are not entirely settled on a Westfield.

Its also not reasonable to say "join the club" when it takes a month+ to get through the process and be able to post (this isn't a criticism, just a reality).

Yes it would be helpful for sellers to post a phone number/email address, but some may not want to, some don't realise that non-members can't reply and others simply forget.  Whatever the reason I haven't seen a phone number or email address on a car for sale advert for a long time.

It feels to me that this only punishes the members trying to sell.  It also feels like new members often get what feels like a hostile initial reaction to the club - which we all know the reality of the club is far from this.

Suggestion - can we have an open discussion on allowing non-members to reply to for-sale adverts?  At least in the cars for sale section (I appreciate only allowing members to reply to parts is different, in order to allow members first opportunity).

I first joined this club in 1988 at the Stonleigh show, if I remember correctly I received my membership card the same day ( the club was a lot smaller then ).

I have rejoined  by paypal on the 18th Oct ( so no delay in money transfer ).

I also have items to sell but they stay in the shed until my membership number arrives.

Could new members be emailed their club membership number before the hard copy, they they could then partisipate in the club activities quicker?

John.
