Nick Algar - Competition Secretary Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 Should be good Steve. But don;t be surprised when some muppet says he could have done it easier, cheaper and in his grandad's shed without a jig Still at least we can then jump all over them Quote
John Loudon - Sponsorship Liaison Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 Dead easy little job down for my grandads shed using old chair legs and a G clamp Looking forward to it Steve Quote

flyingbanana Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 I was worried it would all be done by Pg3...but just loads of banter! Presumably you'll keep a small region unwaxed for Movember? Look forward to seeing the work. Quote
CL290005 Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 Steve I am waiting in abated breath can we have photos of your jig and the dozers/pullers as you use them I would find this very interesting have repaired many a car and altered kit car chassis before so very interested in the repair. Plus can you describe how you cut in the new box section again interested to see if this would be how I would do it? thanks Chris Quote
SteveD Posted November 14, 2011 Author Posted November 14, 2011 ALL the proceeds going to cancer research Respect i think everyone knows someone that has suffered the effects of cancer ,be it indirectly or directly ,and i am no exception so by doing this chassis the whingers have summat to read to take there minds off whinging and cancer research gets a donation Quote

Plus can you describe how you cut in the new box section again interested to see if this would be how I would do it? thanks Chris im sure there are doubters anyway and we all have our own views on how things should be done or not done ,its not rocket science ,its about having the right tools for the job and investing time and lots of money on jigs ,which i am constantly updating, and also having the qualifications to weld helps ,dont worry i will not be showing my jigs in full as these cost me a bleedin fortune to have done and i dont want people getting bright ideas i chose this chassis because its about as bad as you would get before needing to fit a complete front end though every repair is different ,and race chassis are different to jig than standard chasis what you cannoty see from my s****y photo's is the chassis is bent up aswell both top and bottom rails and also the o/s top rail is bent Quote
CL290005 Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 Steve no bright ideas from me just very interested in anything like this, as a mechanical engineer I like the challenge to repair things rather than the current idea to scrap. Only asked about the jigs and pullers just to see how you pulled etc. No other reason but I understand what you are saying Quote
Bob Green Posted November 15, 2011 Posted November 15, 2011 anyone fancy a chassis repair thread Go for it Poppet. I would love to see a thread like this. Quote
