WEMORGAN Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 Does anyone know for a limited mileage insurance policy whether track miles count as well as road miles? I thought normal road insurance policies were not valid on tracks, so wondered if the mileage when on track would not count towards your annual allowance. But then saying the above, if the mileage is logged with each annual MoT the insurance company could argue that the total mileage would need to be declared regardless of how it was accumulated. Thanks. Quote
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 Miles are miles, it would be almost impossible to prove what we're track and non track, the odometer would only show the total, as would the MOT, like you say. Of course, you could disconnect your speedo when on track, but that's a whole different can of worms. (and yes, I know race cars don't typically come with speedos/odometers, but that's racing not track days) Quote
Lurksalot Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 I would disconnect the speedo if you are likely to be using all your road miles up, I would make a note of the running time on the track so that you can be upfront if you sell the car, however if you are not doing trackdays every week the miles won't stack up that high .
