Hammy Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 I'm restoring a Raleigh Wisp moped as a winter project and am having the problem that a reasonable rear mudguard does not seem findable. Mine is very rotten and I was wondering if anyone had a childs push bike or wot ever that had a similar size rear mudguard ( plastic or metal)... The outside dia of the tyre is about 16.5" and its a fatish sort of tyre! I'm told its the same as the rear mudguard on a RSW/16 shopping bike (also rare!) anyone ?? Quote

jeff oakley Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 If all else fails that is easy enough to make for a specialist. Might also be worth looking at trailer mudgards and making one from there if it has the right radius you need, spliting and rewelding would give the correct width . Seen this done many times and they turn out very good. Quote
Hammy Posted November 6, 2011 Author Posted November 6, 2011 Trailer mudguards is and excellent idea - I look into that too Thx Quote

John Loudon - Sponsorship Liaison Posted November 15, 2011 Posted November 15, 2011 Is the rear mudguard from a Raliegh Chopper any good? Quote
Hammy Posted November 15, 2011 Author Posted November 15, 2011 It's not long enough - have you seen the prices for chopper parts on eBay ? Quote
John Loudon - Sponsorship Liaison Posted November 15, 2011 Posted November 15, 2011 What radius does it need to be? Could you adapt any of these? Example 1 Example 2 The first one is from a seller that might be worth a call judging by his advert Quote
Hammy Posted November 15, 2011 Author Posted November 15, 2011 Both of these are too large a diameter , tyre on a wisp Is about 16.5" diameter. The Tomas is nearest but still too big . Nearest I've seen is on a kiddie bike in Halfords - but they can't get spares for it !!! Ive been looking at such bikes on EBay Quote
