markcoopers Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 Picked this up on Saturday An E36 M3 evo vert in individual spec with a paint name that is totally unpronounceable.....so lets call it steel blue? A 3.2 eve manual with 74K on a 99T with all the toys and a hard top, private plate and a rebuilt Vanos unit. well chuffed. Makes a spine tingling noise and if pushed is fast. Thing is though, the daily is a 123d and that just shows the pace of development, as that is probably faster point to point. I do like a classic and this was from my generation. Off to get some red braces for me and shoulder pads for the wife. Quote
JeffC Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 QUOTE paint name that is totally unpronounceable is it technoviolet ? Quote
markcoopers Posted October 23, 2011 Author Posted October 23, 2011 nope, that is a purle/black kind of thing. This was a colour from the individual spec, there were 4 at least in the range, this colour a pink one, velvet blue and a bronze. The others cosmos black, Dakar yellow, Fern/oxfordgreen, estril blue, Imola red, silver were more common. Quote
Cleggy the Spyder Man Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 I dread to think to what the top gear forensic scientist would find on them seats better get down to ASDA as I hear they are doing BOGOF on carpet shampoo - if you put your Sergio toshini track suit, put your baseball cap on a full 180 degrees i am sure you will attract the attention of a single mum pushing twins whilst having a fag - you can regale her of stories of your footballing career in the 3rd division Quote
Cleggy the Spyder Man Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 only kidding chap - looks mint Quote
markcoopers Posted October 23, 2011 Author Posted October 23, 2011 so far the only "finds" have been all the old tax discs wedged down the front of the screen and a ruler in the boot from Battersey dogs home and 87p worth of 1p's cramed into an ashtry. No cool shades like Sam found in his Merc. Quote
JeffC Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 yes you are right just googled tecno QUOTE Makes a spine tingling noise and if pushed is fast I remember buying a 1996 N reg M3 5 speed 3.0 and I can remember it lamping up to 155mph with 5 people in was balistic in its day and was considerably quicker than the Citroen Bx 1.9 n/a diesel I had before it I had a 2005 M3 last month and wasnt impressed by that have to say comparing it to modern diesel cars, also test drove the new latest V8 M3 before i got the r400 and was underwhelmed by that and more so by the mpg I think you are right though its amazing how oil burners have come on , if only they could get the noise right Quote

samcooke Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 No cool shades like Sam found in his Merc. I still have them if you want to borrow them? It was a bird that bought that Merc and she wouldn't have appreciated them. It certainly looks a very tidy car and you didn't say he was leaving the awesome P81VTE P1ATE on it, proper cool. Just need to change your name to Charlie Xavier Dangleberry. There's no such thing as the third division now though Granddad. Quote
flyingbanana Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 Nice. o/t Technoviolet was a great colour! If I were even less sensible with vehicles, I would have bought an e34 M5 Touring in T/V but female genes (not mine) intervened... Quote

pistonbroke Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 Does the drivers seat has enough height adjustment or did you have to transfer the cushion from your Westy Nice Moata Quote
lippydave Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 YEP.... very gay car and deffo a hairdresser motor That's what all my pals as well as the kids said..... To be honest I sort of bought it on a whim and used it mostly to commute up and down to Crewe from south Brum every day. As a mile muncher and A-roads blaster it was flamin' brill. I ended up loving the thing and despite the girlie colour it had a manly end to it. During the worst of the floods a few years back I drove 60 odd miles through the worst of it only to get caught by a freak wave surge coming down a hill less than 3 miles from home. It was such a big wave it lapped halfway up the screen, hydrauliced the engine,...Game over... It actually blew a chunk of crankcase out of the middle of the vee on the engine...It was still running , although a wee bit noisily. My general experiences with Mercs has led me to the pov that they are far better driving/owning propositions than their staid old man image might lead the uninformed to think....... Anyway, back to Mark's M3, I like the colour...and to paraphrase/quote Lockstock..."****** women is for P***s...." Quote
zxr400 Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 nice car mark, but will you still come out and play, westy liked chaseing you, oooooh errrrrr Quote
markcoopers Posted October 24, 2011 Author Posted October 24, 2011 Westy still in garage, but might sell the trailer as it is all a bit of a squeeze in there and i don't foresee much in the way of track days in 2012/2013. We shall see though as plan A was to sell the westyand trailer together and get a VX220. Back to the colour, i like this one despite the man challenges. My first car a Vauxhall chuv it was this colour and i also like the BMW Bluewater (current cars).....mind you my preference was Boston Green. If i get stuck there are two booster seats in the back for the kids i can borrow....Still make you laught...the aformentioned chuv it's driver seat had completley collapsed, so i used to have a kids booster seat to sit on to see out. Yes Modern oil burners have really come on, mine makes 200+ bhp and a skip load of tourque, that just monsters the 3.2 BMW in anything other than 6000+rpm. The 123d is now 3yrs old with 140k on the clock, so just chosen a new 118d coupe as i don't really use the 123d's power and the 118 has like we say "come on" over the years. Yes private plate and matching hard top, stand, bag and all the blanking plates/covers included. Got afew of the "common faults" that need a look at but the AA membership is fully paid up, so sorted. Kids love it and even the wife let out a whoop (might of been a scream) when we opened the taps for the fisrt time....that was the result we wanted. Quote
