zxr400 Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 As an ex racer {National Level} on Yamaha TZ250cc bikes your right,,....racing is all that matters, I was involved in three fatal incidents over my 15years racing and each time I got back on the next race...... didnt worry me what had just happend as it wasn't me .. ... .. ... Until the last one at Cadwell who was my team mate............. and having just turned 32yrs old I decided enough was enough know how you feel on this,as you say when its your team mate it hurts,it may tip rossie over the edge,if he comes out to play how much will he want to push,it will play on his mind,as he wos involed,i feel for him Quote
MrL Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 I agree with you Jay & lippydave on so much of this. Things look to be a changing at Ducati with them pulling FTR in to make alloy chassis & components. Whether they have time to make it work for next year after years of steel trellis & carbon chassis remains to be seen. Filippo Preziosi is a genius, as are Burgess & Rossi mechanically IMO. Rossi has had the hardest 2 years of his career what with last year's leg break and then the challenges of Ducati this. He has to be demoralised by it, sometimes at least. I also raced at club & National road racing level, and have lost people through road & race accidents. You accept that as a bad part of riding bikes. But losing people does make you think about mortality, that it could happen to you. Rossi has achieved so much, a normal person would say why risk your life to chase any more. But he is a racer, Senna was the same. He didn't want to lose his life but he couldn't stop racing. Racing was his drug and he paid the ultimate price. On the day Senna died Prof Sid Watkins said to him he didnt have to get in the car & race. With all that he'd done, why didnt he & Sid pack it all in and go fishing together. Sadly hours later he was dead. It would be tragic to see Rossi retire, but more tragic to see him die racing I think. But only he can make that decision and be at peace with it. Quote

BUT the forced retirement means he is still with us today and very much still involved............ Rossi still has a lot of talent to give and is still very young.......and on the right machine he can beat anyone........... BUT Marco was too close to him and this could be the tipping point........ lippydave Posted October 31, 2011 Posted October 31, 2011 According to Tom Jojic, (Bradley Smith's mechanic): Paolo Simoncelli (Marco's father), has asked for there to be one minute of noise instead of silence, with all MotoGP, Moto2, 125 bikes roaring at the same time at this weekend's Valencia GP.... Seems Papa Simoncelli is made of the right stuff the same as his lad..... Quote
