Fat Albert Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 And from me RIP son, you brought a breath of fresh air this season to what was becoming a pretty boring spectacle Wheldon's funeral was yesterday in Florida, there's a memorial service today at Indianapolis That makes two, who's going to be the third? tkm_dave Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 So sad to hear this. Definitely a legend we didn't get to see fulfill his potential! RIP Marco. Quote
Man On The Clapham Omnibus Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 I just missed this on BBC2 this morning as I was a bit late switching on. I am glad I did miss it... Serious injuries and death were once the norm in bike racing but lately, due to improved circuit safety and clothing, they have been mercifully rare. When it does happen it is all the more shocking. RIP Marco. Quote
jerryhzx12 Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 Sad loss of a young guy who seemed to have just got into his pace in Moto GP and brought a bit of personality with him... Quote
Garry Bunn - Derby & Notts Joint AO Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 He was a very gifted rider, and I loved to watch him race. Always amazed me how he found so much pace on the 125 and 250 bikes when his feet were touching the ground and he was crouched somehow behind the fairing. Very upsetting this morning watching the race, I'm sure our thoughts are with his family and friends, especially the two guys involved in the accident. RIP. Quote
XTR2Turbo Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 Tragic loss I woke to watch the rugby and caught the end of this. It will be especially tough for Rossi. They were close friends and although nothing he could do it appeared to be his front wheel that made the main contact with Marco. Quote
echoz Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 Truly horrible to read this on fb just a second ago, am at work so missed the race, such a gifted talented young man with so much potential its always the good ones tht go first my sincerest thoughts are with his family and friends :down. Quote
Bob Green Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 Jesus Christ! A while ago I was going in to one about the MotoGP not being shown on the re-run as I did not record it. It is only through this Boardroom that I understand Marco gave the ultimate sacrifice of a GP rider. Such a heavy heart draws me to type this as Marco was not the most loved rider along pit lane but frankly, I did not care. Marco took risks that I would expect any rider to take at this level and most of the time, paid off, leaving the aggrieved rider to dribble on about etiquette. At this level, etiquette loses races. God rest you, Marco. Quote
