langy Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 Guy at work pointed this website out to me usedcars-warehouse and I must admit there are quite a few cars that appear to be very good value or money It seems that cars have been repossessed. They don't have any contact details (landline, address etc) so that would put me of. Any thoughts, dealings etc ? Quote
lippydave Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 No address or phone numbers anywhere on the site..... Wonder what a companies house search will bring up... Quote
bhouse Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 The domain name appears to have been registered earlier this month to a Tim Smith of Wisconsin in the States. The general advice from trading standards (and common sense) is not to deal with any web-based companies who do not display an address and landline number. Edit to add: no sign of a "Used Cars Warehouse Limited" at Companies House, but there is a "Used Car Warehouse Limited" listed - based in Nottingham. Quote

bhouse Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 Exactly - User Car Warehouse, not Used Cars Warehouse... The Used Car Warehouse website is http://www.theusedcarwarehouse.co.uk - and they do display phone numbers and an address on their site. Quote
Captain Colonial Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 So you pay them before you see the car, they take up to five days to deliver it, you get three days to inspect the car and accept or reject it, and if you like it, THEN they send you the paperwork? Pass, thanks. Quote

The legit one (ie the one with a tel number!)has a different post code too NG7 3EH..... I hate scammers, we should email bomb the dodgy website.... ie the one without the contact details... Quote
jonclancy Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 Exactly - User Car Warehouse, not Used Cars Warehouse... Website won't work with my browser. Spolling mistake on the front page is a bit sloppy. Quote
bhouse Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 QUOTE Spolling mistake on the front page is a bit sloppy. I thought "complete piece of mind" was quite funny: "Free frontal lobe with every Renault!" Quote

A number of reputable UK car auctions (including BCA) run their online auctions in this manner, and the trade buy through them. They do however have a grading system (from 1 to 5) for condition, and if you think the car doesn't meet the description and grading, they will accept it back. A friend who is a car sales droid for a small independent, recently bought his son a Honda though BCA in this manner. When it was delivered it had a monster crease through the roof and cantrails. They took it back, (it turned out that the delivery company had dropped the transporter rails onto the roof.) I have a suspicion that they accepted it back easily because the indie that he works with buy an awful lot of cars from them tho'.... Quote
Rob Way Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 If you order a car through here you won't be receiving anything. Firstly no address secondly no phone number thirdly the pics and the descriptions are taken from Autotrader. ie photos of cars at peoples houses!! I would expect a giant car lot with all the cars in 1 place. The prices are amazing though.... Quote
