O/T Mid Size SUV

Depends on how new you want the car to be, also is it being an SUV a requirement, because:

I have one of these (albeit the more powerful 136bhp version) and its a great family/tow car.  The boot is cavernous, its a great drive, tows a westie on a trailer with ease at a gps-indicated 70mph and above.  Mine has done 120k miles and drives like it did 100k miles ago.  This age is also pre DPF problems I believe (although you want to double check this - if it has a DPF I'd avoid it like the plague).

I use a Jeep Patriot, fully loaded......  Cheep 2nd hand

I know it American but it has the VW 2.0 TDI engine and running gear.
