IanD Posted October 13, 2011 Posted October 13, 2011 Westfield RAC type roll bar for a narrow SE The bar is in generally good condition, just the normal wear around where the tonneau cover fits. No rust or damage. It could do with some paint on the rear stays where a sticker has pulled some of the paint off when I removed it, but this could be hidden under the boot box. Would prefer collection due to size or could deliver anywhere on the M6-M40 corridor as I regularly travel to London. £100 Pictures Added.
Big Wheel Westie Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 Hi Ian you would'nt happen to know if the standard hood would still fitt over the RAC roll bar? Failing that if you could let me have the measurements from the bottom fixing bracket to the top of the bar I could check against the roll hoop currently fitted. Many Thanks, Tim.
IanD Posted October 18, 2011 Author Posted October 18, 2011 To be honest I dont know. I never used one with it. I believe that some people have been able to do it by leaving out the original supports. But other have said it wont. Hight from the Foot plate to the top is 410mm Hope that helps
Pantherman Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 Ian. Possibly interested , however being new to Westfields how do the rear bars fasten ie would I need to have brackets welded to my Narrow chassis ? At the moment I just have the original Westfield standard loop. Not too far away ,just the other side of Warrington. Thanks Dave
Big Wheel Westie Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 Thanks for that Ian, currently with the hood up I have 350mm of room so I guess its a no go. Cheers, Tim.
TrevorC Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 Hi Tim, When I had this type of bar fitted the hood fitted no problem, the only issue was that the hood frame had to be removed to take down the hood. The hood frame was attached to the car in its erected position and the hood then fitted as the frame cannot be lowered or raised past the roll bar. Trevor
IanD Posted October 18, 2011 Author Posted October 18, 2011 Thanks for the input Trevor. May be it depends on the type of hood and year of car. We all know how much Westfield liked to change things. Dave. Funnily enough you’re not the first to ask this question. I thought all chassis had them to be honest, Mine did, (1994) but I could be wrong. Have a look at the picture below I have outlined the mounting points. Thanks Smokey Mow. Hope you didn’t mind me using the picture from your build post. Hope this helps. Ian
Pantherman Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 Thanks. Will have a look tonight when I get home. Dave

Trevor Hi Trevor, Thanks for the information, unfortunately by the time I got your message it looks like it's been sold, missed out on a good deal by the looks of it, having said that my hoods on the tight side and I would probable have to remove the top stay altogether: never straight forward with a Westie Tim.
