jeff oakley
It works in Europe because the culture is to have two sets of tyres. Over here in many ways they are made useless as everyone else does not have them. When you are stuck in a 4x4 on the A34 because everyone in front of you is stuck winter tyres make little differance. XTR2Turbo
Near me the problem last year with all the snow seemed to be that all the main roads were quickly cleared but the last mile or so of local roads was not treated and quickly became packed ice. In these conditions I think winter tyres would help. I have ordered some for my mini. Khumo winters were only £50 each compared to £120 for the summers so makes sense to wearout these over the winter when wet and icy and they will grip better anyway. If you go down a rim size or two winters are very cheap. Just chuck on a set of steels or ebay rims. I ordered mine from mytyres.co.uk
