Steven (WE51STE) Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 Hi, The old facrebook group for Warwickshire WSCC is being archived. So I've added a new farcebook group for the WSCC Warwickshire and interested members to assist with the sharing of club information. The new group can be found here : Farcebook Group WSCC Warwickshire The group has been created as a secret group so we can keep out the world and dog and just keep it to authentic interested parties. Please feel free to come along and join our group ( you will have to be a member before you can read / contribute ). This will not be replacing our usual methods of communication ( i.e. e-mail / boardroom / Westfield World ) it is meant to be additional format. If you are interested I've put up the pictures from out latest Curborough Event and the Wings and Wheels Show last weekend. However, if you don't do farcebook and would like to receive our regular e-mail updates drop me a PM or email and let me know your details so I can add you to our mailing list. BCINU, Steve Quote
Captain Colonial Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 Is there a way to enable non-Facebookers to see it please? Quote
Hammy Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 I can't seem to access this page either by searching or following the link - can you add me ? Paul Hammond Quote
echoz Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 Just so you know, the link displays a "page not found" window Facebook keeps changing these days, i'd guess you have it set that so you have to add people as friends, rather than people come along and add you. an easy solution maybe to open it to public viewing for a week so everyone on here that may be interested has a chance to see it (this thread) and then when everyone has joined the group, make it private again, then any stragglers can be found and added as and when they pop up, save you having to find everyone and add them HTH Quote
Steven (WE51STE) Posted October 4, 2011 Author Posted October 4, 2011 I've tried opening up the group so if you would like to try again and let me know how it goes. Steve P.S. I will also be putting the club photots up on the WSCC Warwickshire Web Site but that will take a little more time which I've not got a lot of spare this week. Quote
Captain Colonial Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 As a non-Facebooker, I still can't see it, I'm afraid... Quote
Steven (WE51STE) Posted October 4, 2011 Author Posted October 4, 2011 Captain, I will be updating the WSCC website for the non farcebookers. Steve Quote
Captain Colonial Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 OK Squadron Leader, it's just that non-Facebookers can see the Cambridge one is all - you're the boss! Quote
Steven (WE51STE) Posted October 4, 2011 Author Posted October 4, 2011 I don't like the way FarceBook prefers you to share out all you information to everyone by default. I don't mind people I know knowing what I've been up to. I don't like strangers knowing all my details, where, when and who. In my next e-mail out the Warwickshire members I'll include it as a question in the questionnaire. Regards, Steve Quote
Dibby Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 Only thing I used Twatter for is following the smartarse comments from SniffPetrol during an F1 race once. It was quite amusing having an alternative comedy commentary going. Although I've never really used it, I get the impression it's only full of egotistical knob-bags if you follow these egotistical bawbags. It'll be full of funny/ interesting/ insightful people if you follow funny/ interesting/ insightful people. Like with all the internet, it's what you make it. OK Squadron Leader, it's just that non-Facebookers can see the Cambridge one is all - you're the boss! Would it just be easier to sign up Cap? Save Mooncloud the effort? You don't have to use your real name or email address, or put any private information up ... just like you can't see half the stuff here without signing up. Quote

Considering it... but it goes against my principles a bit! I did try to sign up once as Captain Colonial, but it threw a hissy fit and thought I was a company, band, organisation or famous person! Modern ******g technology... Quote
Dibby Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 Don't use my real name on there because I've got a pretty unique surname and all the people I didn't particularly like from school would find me in a flash. Just like why we don't use our real names on teh board here and why we blank our numberplates on photos for the net. Quote

Though of course only to other Boardroom members. Quote
Dibby Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 Ah yeah, I used my real name on the forum here ... see what I mean about the unique surname that would be easy to find on FB? Location isn't quite right, moved house since then Quote
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 I understand completely. Removed my details from the profile pages on here a few years ago, while having problems with a particularly nasty customer at work. Quote
