wookie Posted October 9, 2003 Posted October 9, 2003 Hi, i've got a kent cam fr32, and putting on a new belt after a full re-build, kent say all i need to know is that after TDC the setting is 108 degrees, is that all i need to do?. and that the valve clearances are 0.010 thou, oh and the head has been skimmed by 0.030 tho, will this make a difference?. stu999 Posted October 9, 2003 Posted October 9, 2003 Sort of. In theory, you can fit the belt as per the manual and the engine will run. BUT, the cam timing *might* be out, and therefore any benefits of fitting a higher lift cam could be lost. So by ensuring you have full inlet valve lift @ 108 deg, you will be ensuring that the cam timing is correct. There are a couple of ways of doing this....you will need a DTI guage, a 360 deg protractor for the one method, a way of altering the cam timing if it is out, and a bit of patience..... HTH Stu.
