david.c Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 We did a Clio Cup day at Silverstone for our Son when he was 16. Instructors were excellent and 2 youngsters per car, so drive time was reasonable and he had a great time. David Quote

a4gom Posted October 5, 2011 Author Posted October 5, 2011 Mark, I called Croft and although I'm not sure the person I spoke to knew what i was talking about they called me back and said Mini only for under 16's. I've looked at loads of options and tracks and ended up going for a Ferrari / Rally experience at Stafford. Personally I don't think this was necessarily the best option but he's a typical kid and wants to do it now not wait until next year and he's happy with what's on offer. It's not a proper track which is a bit disappointing, it's based around an old airfield which has a track set up with half a dozen bends and a couple of chicanes. Apparently 99% of kids get the cars up to between 80-100mph on the straights so it must be a decent length. Apparently the experience takes between 2 and 3 hours; he gets taught the basics in a subaru impreza, gets taken on demonstration laps with his instructor, has a session driving a Ferrari 360 and a session driving a Renault Clio on a rally stage in a (handbrake turns etc) As a first experience I'm sure it will suffice and I don't think you can expect too much for £125. If it goes ok we'll look elsewhere next year. Quote
