Got a plumber to install a boiler, phew the price makes my eyes water.

Got Totalgaz to get the rep here and get me signed up for a tank and gas.

Gas tank and gas to be completed by 21st October

Plumber to start on 25th October

But this is France and it'll be totally against the culture for those dates to be met.

Oh, and Lynne is now home and attending a re-education centre three time a week to learn how to walk again.

Isn't the world a lovely place.   :D

Thanks Mark, I'll pass your good wishes on.

I suppose it's the wrong time of the year to seek a boiler install. But I did start the search in July!

Having been far afield I eventually found the local plumber from the next village will do it. The boiler is 2550€ and labour is 1050€ with the other bits and pieces it totals  4,600€

I don't know how you cope with the French lassez-faire attitude Norm.  Pal of mine has a holiday home in Brittany and it's exactly the same.  It would do my head in - it's bad enough here.

Pleased to hear Lynne continues to make progress - best wishes to you both.

I've just paid same price for my new 25kw boiler and other plumbing works, replacing pipework, cold water feed and taps etc ici en Breton  ;)  local plumber from village nearby - had some quotes of english guys working and registered in France and they were nearly double

This guy came round and quoted within a week and all work done inside 4 days  ;)  :D easy and straight forward despite my poor french and his non-existent English  :D

Thanks Stuart.

Mark, I've done all new pipework (in copper). All he has to do is supply the boiler (2550€), a French made 25 kw jobbie. and connect the gas pipes to the boiler and the cooker. 32 hours at 34€ per hour. That is a lot cheaper per hour than the UK but it's a lot of hours. I also asked him to do a leak test on the pipes. I must have at least one bad joint in the 100 or so I've soldered. The answer was we'll find out when we turn the water on.
