wilsonch Posted September 19, 2011 Posted September 19, 2011 OK i dont want to poo poo any comments but the question was " My cordless drill does not hold charge anymore and I see that B&Q have an offer on a Bosch Li Combi Drill with spare battery for £84. (was £149). Is this good or are there better buys for the same price? " I worked in the maintemance dept of a company that made conservatories and we always bought £350 makita cordless drills and thay were the dogs BUT the numb nuts installers still managed to break them buy constantly using the hammer and 10mm bits to put holes in walls (instead of using a corded hammer drill) The point is, for the money its a great deal. Stay away from Makitas with the red nicad batteries as there very low mA's The Lion batteries are far superior. and No i dont now work for Bosch Quote
Wile E. Coyote Posted September 19, 2011 Posted September 19, 2011 Last week Screwfix had a tidy looking LiIon Makita at £100 off - down to £150. Just checked and it's still there: link Was a struggle to resist... Quote
tkm_dave Posted November 8, 2011 Posted November 8, 2011 Bit of a topic revival if I may... Bosch or DeWalt or the 3Ah Daddy Makita Not gonna be used that hard as I'm not in to DIY or housebuilding etc but I want something that's going to last and is slightly future-proof in case I do start some project or other requiring lots of drilling (not a clue what, but for the sake of asking for advice now might save me needing an upgrade down the line). Thanks in advance for any advice Quote
Lurksalot Posted November 8, 2011 Posted November 8, 2011 We have used De Walt for years and give them daily abuse , we replace one every now and again , but have 4 vans with 2 drills/circular saws/jigssaws/radios/ torches etc Common batteries throughout , which again we replace every now and again . We don't leave any tools on the vans overnight though Quote
housebeautician Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 All mine are now Makita li ion jobs cant fault them, but they are the £350 jobs and are used for hours daily. No need to spend that amount for domestic use, but i would say have a look round on prices. Quote
RedditchJay Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 i bought a Makita from B&Q 2 years ago with charger and 2 batteries.... no issues at all but only light domestic use though so far, batteries hold their charge for months.... this is the one i have B&Q website Makita 8391DWPE 18V Combi Drill + 2 Batteries EAN: 0088381092791Only £99.00 Quote
Ian Podmore Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 Just make sure you get LiIon powered cordless tools nowadays. Don't be tempted by deals on NiCd powered tools. Quote
RichP Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 Very good deal here and once you've had one of these impact drivers you'll wonder how you ever managed without it Quote
housebeautician Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 Very good deal here and once you've had one of these impact drivers you'll wonder how you ever managed without it These are excellent machines and will last you forever in a domestic situation. Quote
RedditchJay Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 its a good deal if you have a mate who also wants one, then go 50/50 on the price Quote
