Is it all about Westfield and Caterham?

Driving an XI just about everyone waves.

Whether they're driving a 7, Cobra, Elise, Mondeo or Aston.

It was getting so regular earlier this year I was considering getting one of those waving hand things to mount on the scuttle!

I havent gonoe from robin hood to westy (yet) as im currently 7-less... I am however in the position financially to buy.. Im not however in the country at mo, will be from novemeber onwards tho... So I'll be in the market for one... Should anyone be considering?

Not fixed on what Im looking for, but ideally something like a tuned xe, or duratec if not too expensive..If I come across an mt75 chassis westy, then  Im potentially going to go down the f20c route! ;-)

max budget is either 12-13k for the finshed product, or somewhere around 7-8ish and then engine overhall costs ontop.

Why did you upgrade to a westfield rather than stick with the cheaper fun machine?

The Westie is far faster and lighter than a Sierra EFI engined Robin Hood. It was put up for sale at not much more than we sold the RH for, a no-brainer to sell the Hood which was based on a 20 year old engine and suspension to upgrade to a Megablade.

Ultimately it would be nice to have a Caterham Levante or an Atom V8 but you buy what's in your budget and have to dream.

I tend to find all kit kar'ists regardless of make give a flash and a wave on the way past, even the older generation in the Morgans.

Sorry. My comments and questions were relating to

Dibby's post. Should have used quote!

Wish you well with your future westy buying activities.

Human nature being what it is, I'm sure there are Westfield owners who genuinely look down their noses as you say; however, I also think it's a far smaller number than you may believe.

I don't hear it so much in a Westie but in the Hood, the odd snide comment along the lines of 'Meh, it's not a real 7' does get up your nose. As much as you want to come back with 'Suck my big fat hairy bawbag' ... you bite your tongue and let it go.

You're right, it's not very common, it's the odd one or 2 snobs (who usually have never owned a kit and develop their entire worldly knowledge overhearing blokes in pubs) spoiling it.

In all seriousness, if you're happy with what you're driving/owning, who gives a feck what anyone else thinks?  :suspect:

The minute someone else starts paying for my cars they're entitled to an opinion I may consider listening to...

Outside of that unlikely occurence, it's all just ******' white noise to me....Like listening to the Missus jaw off about shoes.... :p  :D  :D

Spot on Dave - I stopped giving a flying f*** about what others I don't care about think many years ago.

I do notice that the only 7-type owners who consistently wave back are Westie owners, though - which I think is rather sad that the owners of other marquees can be so petty.  Don't see that to anywhere near the same level in the motorbike community, who are very friendly and open generally.

Aye, well said there Dave.

Haven't found that Cap'n, driving in the Hood or the Westie, every 7/ Cobra/ Morgan/ any open top kit will give a wave. Not noticed any more waves in the Westie or the Hood and generally find all the toy car owners out there are a friendly bunch who will give a flash and a wave

I personally have to say as an ex biker and long term Kit-Car owner I really don't understand this waving thing  ???

Why the need to wave or nod at every fecker in a similar car - does my head in; even more so when I owned a bike.

I'll chat and be friendly with anyone that wants to talk but just don't see the need in this waving lark!

(Anybody else like me or am I the only miserable git?)
