Matta Posted August 31, 2011 Posted August 31, 2011 Any thoughts on times etc. for meeting up on the Saturday and anything you want folks to bring? Matt Quote
frag68 Posted August 31, 2011 Posted August 31, 2011 I was going to bring my wee cooker that I had on the Leadhills blat and a pan to do bacon/sausages. That is if someone remembers to bring the sausages this time. Still got plenty of gas left over from Le Mans, so no probs to use it if required. Maybe if the weather is to be dry, we could bring disposable barbecues. But then again pigs might fly. Looking forward to it. The chap who tunes my engine is racing a Series 3 Catering Van with a Lotus twin cam that weekend so it will be good to see it in action. Quote
Wee Dov Posted August 31, 2011 Author Posted August 31, 2011 Hi Matt ,how's the new car ? Iknow what's on youe Applecross sticker ha ha ha he he he Can you suggest a place to meet ie layby or something either Linlithgow or Boness area . I think a gazebo or two might be a good idea ,who can supply ? the pop up variety please Cheers Wee Dov. Quote
frag68 Posted August 31, 2011 Posted August 31, 2011 I have a 6m x 3m and a 9m x 3m gazeebo, but these are quite large and wont fit in the Westy, but could arrange for them to be brought through on the Friday afternoon as I have a rolling road session in the morning if this would help. I will be coming from Lanark so a meeting place near Linlithgow etc on the Saturday would be great for me rather than at either of the bridges Quote
Matta Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 New car awaiting welding at the moment but hopefully 'Stainless Al' Reynolds will remedy that on Friday night. Suggestion for a meeting place could be a big layby on the A904 just to the east of Boness. That's the road in from the M9 at junction 3. Come up the hill far about 1/2 mile heading for Boness - the road swings round to the left and once the road flattens out, the layby is on your left. For those coming from the west, go straight through Linlithgow High street and at the mini roundabout at the east end of the town, take the left fork, continue out of the town, over the M9 and follow the directions above. That's the easiest way if you don't know the area. The layby is big enough for everyone. Only slight problem is that I've just discovered I can't be there until about 090 at the earliest Matt Quote
Wee Dov Posted September 1, 2011 Author Posted September 1, 2011 Matt 9 should be ok ,but I have your ticket but we can tie up b4 hand and arrange something Ihave another car coming also a chap round the corner from me just got his Westy on Wednesday and is keen to join the fray, with us lot Quote

Cheers Wee Dov Quote
kev91 Posted September 2, 2011 Posted September 2, 2011 I have a 3x3 pop-up one but again its a little big to fit in the westie Quote
frag68 Posted September 2, 2011 Posted September 2, 2011 I there, I saw the post from Matta about the lay by which shouldnt be a problem. With regard the gazeebo, I can come through on the Friday afternoon/evening in my tin top if you want. Bo'ness is only 50 mins approx from my house so its not too much hassle. I could always come back for it on the Sunday/Monday night. Its there if you want anyway, but if someone has a more convenient solution then we can go with that. Fraser Quote
frag68 Posted September 4, 2011 Posted September 4, 2011 Have just been out a blat round the borders and on the fibnal stright into my village, something gave way in number 4 cylinder and has came right out through the block with catastrophic consequences. New engine required, so I will need to cancel this coming weekend. Does anyone know where there is a Pinto engine kicking about which is surplus to requirement? I will probably come thru in the tin top on Sunday to watch the racing. I suppose its all my fault as there is a rev limiter on the car, but when I was having all the inition problems, I disconnected it from the coil and never got round to reinstalling it. Ouch. Wee Dov Posted September 4, 2011 Author Posted September 4, 2011 To blow up a pinto takes some doing ,what revs were you doing ? Quote
frag68 Posted September 4, 2011 Posted September 4, 2011 Between 6500 and 7000. Will source a block and look at rebuilding it with oversize pistons etc. When its out I will do it right. Thing is I have been at these revs before. Its supposed to have Burton internals on the bottom, or at least that what the spec was at the time of build as I have the receipts so I would have thought these parts would be more durable than bog standard Ford parts. When the engine is out I will also get the box out and do some work on that. Need to sell my boat now to pay for it all. Quote
Wee Dov Posted September 5, 2011 Author Posted September 5, 2011 For those who are coming to Boness hill climb can we meet at the layby mentioned in a previous post on this thread by Matta ,on the A 904 just east of Boness. Matt will be 9am before he can get there but can the rest of us meet at 8.15 to depart at 8.30 so we can get parked up on site before 9 am as the organisers request . and Matt will make his own way there. Yes I know its early ,but that's one of the many perk's of being a Westy owner Cheers Dave Quote
frag68 Posted September 5, 2011 Posted September 5, 2011 Was really looking forward to going, but hey ho. I have even kept the livery on from Le Mans for this. Anyway will pop through on Sunday to watch the racing and meet up. Have a good one. Fraser Quote
