At the most I worked it out to be 1/2 litre.  The standard oil capacity is 3.6L for a 1600 or 4L for an 1800 egine.

It's a pretty common mod for the Mazda SDV's and to date I haven't heard of anyone suffering any issues as a result.  My own car has now done around 6000 miles and has shown no signs of oil starvation or any other issues.

comparison of gearboxes:

The 6-speed with 3.636 rearend is a bit shorter in all gears, but the nice thing is that 6th is noticeably longer.  Cruising rpm drop by 500 rpm as compared to a 1.6 with 4.3 rearend.

The ideal combination on a turboed car would be a 5 speed gearbox with the 6 speed's rearend (3.636).  That'll give you nice long gears (69mph @ 7000rpm in 2nd), but you need enough power to pull them.

I can see the benefits of a 6-speed on the track though.
