Rob Navin Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 Coming to the wealth of knowledge in the WSCC. I have a Sky hd dish which is linked to one HD reciever, one sky plus and two normal sky boxes. I need to put another television ( not sky ) in Is there any way I can link to the HD dish rather than have another ariel put up ? Thanks Rob Quote
Garry Bunn - Derby & Notts Joint AO Posted August 6, 2011 Posted August 6, 2011 Morning Rob, You can get an lnb to go on the dish with 8 outputs, around £30 on Amazon. You can then run a cable to the new telly and use a freesat tuner. Some tv's have a built in freesat tuner, Panasonics do.... Make sure you check the rotational angle of the old lnb before you change it, you may need a meter to check the signal strength after the change but these are not expensive. You can also get lnb splitters, these will drive two boxes from one lnb connection. Have never used one of these...not sure how well they perform. £10 from Maplins. Garry Quote
Kevin Pullen Posted August 6, 2011 Posted August 6, 2011 Depends on where you are what your initial signal strength si when using splitters. Never used an 8 way LNB but seem like a good idea. Quote
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman Posted August 6, 2011 Posted August 6, 2011 Depends on where you are what your initial signal strength si when using splitters. Never used an 8 way LNB but seem like a good idea. Have used the Octo-LNBs a couple of times, seem OK, BUT had to use a bigger dish each time than the standard old little Sky jobs. (May be OK with some of the slightly larger more recent dishes) Only used the passive splitters once, it didn't work, but that may have been down to the original, poor, Sky installation. Ended up using a switch on that job, which TBH is what we use automatically now if we have to feed several boxes. You just need to make sure you have a comparable LNB. Quote
