jerryhzx12 Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 Having drawn a blank on internet searches, and having got no useful phone advice from the local dealer (who would no doubt rather get some work and cash out of it)....The multiplayer on my CLK recently stopped recognising the magazine and wouldn't reject it (not an unknown phenomenon it seems). Trying to recover my CD's, I disconnected the CD player and had a fiddle with it. On reconnecting it, I find that none of my Comand functions (satnav, radio, phone connection etc) work..cables and optical connector look ok....nothing useful in the user manual...anyone have suggestions (other than a large hammer)? MrL Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 It is getting power I take it ? If so try & reboot it, even if that means disconnecting power for a minute or so and then reconnectng it. Quote
jerryhzx12 Posted July 19, 2011 Author Posted July 19, 2011 Yup, power seems to be there....have tried disconnecting and reconnecting with no luck. The main comand console will turn on, displays the MB logo for a minute or two and then switches itself off.... Quote
Captain Colonial Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 How about disconnecting and reconnecting the battery? Also, is there an anti-theft device that stops it working unless you do something like put in a PIN code? Might have thought you were nicking it. Check in the manual. Quote
carpetstu Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 I had a merc y plate c class that lost the gps signal. Merc dealer in Stafford had it 3 days and gave me a bill for £650. That bill wasn't to fix it that was only to tell me that yes it was broken. I prompltly told them to shove their bill up their I never did find out what was wrong and sold the car at a massive loss. That was the last on I brought. My advice on your problem is see if there is an independent stereo specialist about that can help ? Quote

jerryhzx12 Posted July 19, 2011 Author Posted July 19, 2011 Thanks!, I'll give him a call tomorrow....trying to avoid the Merc main dealer as I suspect it would inviolve £££££££....and I'm planning to sell it soon, so want to avoid major expenditure, but lack of comand function would no doubt knock the value down.. Steven Thorne Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 My Dad had this on his clk until the battery died. When we fitted the new battery every thing worked again so perhaps your battery needs disconecting for 30 mins or so. can't hurt to try Quote
jerryhzx12 Posted July 19, 2011 Author Posted July 19, 2011 Steve, Thanks for that one, will probably give that a go too..could be the cheap option ! Quote
jerryhzx12 Posted July 25, 2011 Author Posted July 25, 2011 Just to close the loop on this.. thanks for all the suggestions, unfortunatley nothing although I tried them, worked - I also spoke with the contacts suggested, who also recommended courses of action, but to no avail... in the end I relented and took it to my Merc dealer . Consequence is, all now back up and running apart from the CD player, looks like it was a corruption issue in the head but probably not a result of my fiddling....Now £400 lighter ....ouch !.....simplicity of the Westie is sometimes a bonus !
