markl Posted August 12, 2003 Author Posted August 12, 2003 To put this to bed after speaking with the helpful people at Webcon It’s apparent that I have two choices 1. Shell out 1550+VAT for the complete injection kit including pre mapped ECU and fuel tank etc etc 2. Spend around £240 on a complete tune up of the carbs and a rolling road session. Apparently it’s a personal thing…. Mark Quote
Blatman Posted August 12, 2003 Posted August 12, 2003 I wouldn't use a Weber Alpha ECU. They don't give out user software, so every time you need a map change, it must go to a Weber Alpha dealer. Almost *every* other ECU will come with a set of tools for self diagnostics and mapping. Much better, IMHO..... Quote
Spy Posted August 13, 2003 Posted August 13, 2003 Try scholar engines on tel 01449 767711. They're supposed to be really competitive when it comes down to Kits to convert to injection. Quote
rowle1p Posted August 13, 2003 Posted August 13, 2003 I have a 2.0l zetec which I put Jenvey throttle bodies on £549, and OMEX engine management £500 all in inc loom etc. The car goes really well, and power is good. OMEX are really helpful, the owner Richard would be prepared to rolling road the car for approx £150-£200. Hope this helps Phil Quote
markl Posted August 14, 2003 Author Posted August 14, 2003 Well, after a hard days work and spending the last two hours in the garauge to finish off, I have just finished putting on the injection kit with a standard mapped ECU. – thanks Steve S!! The story... 1. Replace tank and sender!!!! Seals had perished 2. Remake good old fuel lines // & pump! 3. Fit kit “not so simple” electrics have been a real pain!! Help from my mate Keith! 4. Cut hole in top hood (very shaky nerves and lots of masking tape and tea drinking) 5. Safety check – No leaks – great! Done and knacked! 6. Turn the key nothing…. 7. Another cup of tea… 8. Forgot to reconnect the battery –doh! The simple challenges in life are free.. Well it started third time to be honest and sounds great! Quick spin around the block.. no probs. He can now book it in on a rolling road. Thanks for everyone help! I will stick with carbs on my own car until I need another mountain to climb. Probably sounds very easy for allot of you.. Having Fun Mark Quote
