Dibby Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 Times have changed since Lauda, Stewart, Fit-a-ball-joint and Senna. You can't race like that any more because the FIA investigate every single racing incident as if every crash is avoidable (which technically it is in a single-file procession), drivers have to be so careful now the way they dish out penalties. It's detracting from the sport and the excitement of the good old days. Lucky Vettel span it, Button was showing real racing grit and determination but one touch and they would be dishing out more retrospective post-race penalties Quote
Chris.B Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 Lewis's bint was on Graham Norton the other night and I thought my opinion of her couldn't get any lower. I was wrong!! Oh my goodness - was that her? I was thinking who is this awful gobby clone of Aleisha Dixon! Quote
davidgh Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 I have huge admiration for the likes of Lauda.... So did I when he was a driver. However, I had the pleasure (yes it was, on the whole) of living in Germany for six years a while back. Probably the least good aspect was having to listen to Lauda's "commentary" on the Grand Prix coverage. It's astonishing how negative most of his views are. He comes across as a man with a whole bag full of chips. Quote
housebeautician Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 Bet a lot of you would still like to be able to drive as well as him though. Still think he is a racing driver, and that he has livened up the sport which has been about exciting as a fence post for years. Quote
davidgh Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 I somehow have my doubts that LH would have sat behind a Renault for 50 laps in the last GP of the year whilst the championsip (previously thought to be in the bag) vanished in front of his eyes -- but at least Alonso did not risk an "avoidable accident".
