Scottish Bloke Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 Button: "I've apologised to Lewis" = Nuff said Quote
Nic Ayre Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 Lewis's bint was on Graham Norton the other night and I thought my opinion of her couldn't get any lower. I was wrong!! Couldn't agree more with Steve D's opinion. Quote
Dibby Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 Don't know if it's anything to do with his dad not managing him any more but his head's gone. He can't keep his mouth shut and can't keep his head together on the track. If you're going to make a name for yourself by being a demon in the wet you have to make the moves count, no good sticking a half chance up the inside and driving at closing gaps. You have to be 100% certain you can pull the move off. Quote
lippydave Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 He (Hamilton) believes his own BS that's the problem.... Kudos to Button, who earlier in his career similarly had his head turned by external influences and fell for the whole "rockstar" imagery/perception/bs thang....He's over it now.... I too am in full agreement with SteveD, and not for the first time either... Quote

He's still doing those cringeworthy adverts though Know what you mean. Hamilton was great in his first 2 seasons, bright, fresh faced polite lad, he was and advertiser's dream and a boost for the sport. Now he's getting gimpier by the race with his douchebag beard, stupid earrings, stupid ******catdollface girlfriend who's only at the race to get herself TV time, she doesn't even know what colour car her boyfriend is in judging by the red car that appeared on one of her videos! Hopefully he can cool his head off and stop the glitz and fame clouding his visor, he's a good racer but has to work through the fame issues. Quote

Now he is showing some personality (I may not like that personality) and emotion (frustration, anger, and lots of passion) I have more respect for him. Actually I am not sure I do respect him - too much petulance, but at least he seems to be a person rather than a machine bred from a young age to drive quickly and say bland things at interview Quote

oioi Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 it was also interesting to hear eddie jordan asking martin Whitmarsh if hamilton was going to take a break from the sport. perhaps there are some rumours flying around? Quote

I was thinking he was a refreshing break from the dullard era of Schumacher (the ultimate groomed machine), Mansell, Coulthard, Hill, Hakkinen and Raikonnen who didn't have an ounce of personality between them. Loving the latest seasons, Button, Webber, Vettel, Rosberg, Kubica are all good characters and brought the sport alive again after a bit of a dull patch. Teflonso's still a bit a of a crybaby but the rest of the field are all likeable blokes Quote
Captain Colonial Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 To be fair, if you want to be a winner in F1 or almost any motorsport, you need to be a bit of a knob and full of belief and your own self-worth. It's how they get that final few percent to get them over the edge. Wasn't that long ago when Kobeyashi was known as Kobecrashi, Button was the Brit who partied too hard and blew his chance of a world title, Schumacher walked on water, and Massa missed a world title by one point on the last lap. Things change quick. Even ex-F1 drivers can't keep their traps shut. I have huge admiration for the likes of Lauda, Stewart, and Fittipaldi, but there are times when their arrogant attitudes and opinions burst out and I wish they would please desist your current communication on the matter because I'm intolerant of other people's opinions. So yeah, 2011 hasn't been Hamilton's finest hour. If you had that much self-belief and felt you were driving an inferior car, you'd probably act like a knob once in a while, too. Quote
