Guest Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 Norm , if i was giving best advice i would say the Lapdoc and the current abilities of the Atrix in that dept will frustrate you , buy yourself a laptop ,and get the phone seperate , then combine your mail accounts etc across both . For now till the principle is developed i think it will serve you better . Quote
Dibby Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 Yep, I'd say that too. It looks liek a nice idea but like Harv says, it'll be frustratingly close to what you want but not quite there in reality. A proper laptop will serve you way better than trying to get a phone to do the job of a fulltime business machine. It's why tablets will always be a fun toy and not make it to a fully fledged computer replacement for a good few years yet. With push, your email arrives on the phone and laptop simultaneously, contacts and calendar update over the air as soon as you modify them on either the phone or the lappy. Smartphones are good but not that good yet, even with dual core processors Quote
Norman Verona Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 Actually I only use the lappie to watch TV (bbc iplayer). I have a good, powerful pc to hand for the other stuff. Getting emails to the Nokia is very slow and painful. I can't read them, other than indoors and I'm outside so much I need to see a screen in daylight. I'll report back in 6 weeks. I'm away for the next 3 and am not going to use the net from abroad. Quote
Darrell O'Neill Posted May 19, 2011 Author Posted May 19, 2011 So then geeks , if not the blackberry, what phone should I go for with Android? Quote
cidersurfer Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 HTC Desire HD here. First smartphone I've had. Still gobsmacked by it to be honest... Quote
Dibby Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 Desire HD too, the big screen makes the phone too big for some though. Desire is very good but just replaced with the Desire S. There's a new load of dual core smartphones out. Samsung Galaxy S2 is supposed to be very good as well as the Motorola Atrix and the LG Optimus 2X. HTC should be bringing their dual core phones out any time now Depends what your budget is. Newer and better phones cost more obviously and we can't tell you how much you should spend. Quote
