Certificate of Conformity (or similar)

Hiya,

I am about to export my beloved Westfield SEi to Finland (part of EU)`and register it there for road use however it will be a bit of a challenge as the car is not EC approved.

Does anyone know a party who could provide me with documentation similar to European Union Certificate of Conformity (for a fee)? With this document present I should at least have a change to get the car registered and MOT'd in Finland.

Many thanks in advance for your help.

Try Westfield themselves they may be able to help. They can supply this type of cert although in basic form for DVLA first registration of a new car.

Pay attention : if the car was registered after 01.01.1993, you will need a cat exhaust, a lambda sensor and an injection.

Westfield didn't get type approval until recently did it? so your older sei won't be covered by the CoC

also be aware that pre 1996 the european homologation wasn't recognised anyway.. so if your car is older then that'll be a hurdle too.

bet you'd be better off going for a special import test locally in finland where they weigh and measure the car... as it's EU they should allow it, but there are problems.

think you might need more answers from those directly who will test/register the car in finland.

( i help a lot of brits in czech republic with importing cars and it is a mine field..  older than 8yrs for nonEU cars is a bit of a no no, they don't like right hand drive...  emissions surcharge to pay..  )

if on a q plate can you get it in as a veteran ??  sei mostly where on q plates though rather than age related as the back axle wasn't from the same donor car - it was just the diff reused.. depending on year. age related cars might be easier as the v5 shows the older age of the donor..

I don't think so, and I was paying attention, its the engine age not the date of registration that determine the requirement for a cat etc. Having just been involved in registering one of each earlier this year both 2011 registrations no issues both with pre 1993 engines though.

It makes sense but this argument is not accepted by our authorities in Belgium : they follow the EU directives. I don't know how Finland will interpret these directives but I suppose it won't be "kitcar" friendly.

The only date taken into account is the first registration date. This means that a car produced in 1990 that was only registered 10 years later in 2000 will have to meet the emissions requirements from 2000...  :bangshead:

Good luck
