Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 After last Autumn/Winters mods were all tweaked and run in on the road, I needed to get everything "finished off" on the dyno. A bit of asking round and some digging in the archives turned up a lot of praise for Pip at WGT over in Middlewich - only about 20 minutes from home. After a morning spent on the hub dyno, most odd seeing the car suspended between two big boxes like that the car drove sooo much better on the way home. Absolutely excellent service from Pip, and at an extremely reasonable price. Embarrassing confession though; when tidying the throttle cable run up before the run to Stoneleigh - not only did it mess up the action - made it very sticky, soon fixed by cutting off some tie wraps, it er, ahem, also stopped me from being able to get full throttle. Still, soon fixed this morning Also looks like the cam timing's a little off; I did have my suspicions about the exhaust cam particularly. Pip offered to have a look, but suggested if I was OK doing it myself, it would be rather cheaper! Once I've reset the timing, he'll whiz over the map again just to make sure it's spot on. Great to find an enthusiastic, and knowledgeable specialist on the back door step. And one where you feel comfortable trusting your car to. Oh, and some impressive RX7s in the car park, albeit in a slightly Too Fast Too Furious sort of way Quote
lippydave Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 I had an RX7 FD3 with tweaked ECU sorted by Pip.... Really, really nice clever bloke who provides brilliant service IME too.... +1 for WGT... Quote

Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman Posted May 9, 2011 Author Posted May 9, 2011 Yeah, the new gearing is fantastic, but the diff does drag on the road a little. Quote
SteveD Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 i have used pip for over 13 years and allways had excellent results with wgt and a top notch service it does help we do there bodywork though Quote

Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman Posted May 10, 2011 Author Posted May 10, 2011 Yep went fine, though I bet I was looking nervous on the power runs as it went through 8000 rpm Quote
John Dolan - Wirral & North Wales AO Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 Pip Gardner, WGT, sorted my Mk1 RS in i988. The engine was rough, wouldn't tickover, not a lot of power and more flat spots than Ayrton Senna. Pip replaced the faulty Lumenition unit and jetted the twin 45's so that it pulled like a train from 3k to 6.5k (daren't rev any higher - Pinto!) and tickover was good, despite the lumpy cam. By the way, 1988 was the year, not the engine size. Ayrton Senna won the F1 Championship. Quote
