Hello there,

I hope all you memebers dont mind me asking for some advice here in your club.

I own a 2 ltr XE (redtop) pre cat which is sat in my Mk2 Astra GTE.  I have decided to go for a Twin Weber 45 dcoe set up.

I know some of you Westfield guys use the XE and have an immense amount of knowledge on it which leads me here really.

My problem is this.........Which iginition system is best suited to Twin Weber 45's on an XE engine? I have heard good things about Megajolt.

Any advice would be appreciated lads, as within the vauxhall forums most people are just using a re-worked 1.6 cavalier distributor etc and i cant seem to get any solid advice on Megajolt on a carb'd XE.

Many Thanks

Mark

I've no experience with either myself, but Chris from Trigger-wheels.com has both a westfield with XE and megathingy. I would give him a shout.

I know many have it working on here.

A mate had an XE on a dizzy and had a few unreliability issues with it, coils and caps causing cutting out when hot......not sure if that is a help?

Welcome     :t-up:

If you don't mind abit of Diy Megajolt will suit your XE fine

Also by fitting a TPS to your Webers and you'll have 3D Ignition

Obviously to get the best out of it you'll need it setting up so it might be worth checking with you prefered Rolling road to see if they have any experience with Megajolt

iirc there's a couple of lads that use it on their XE's on here, So hopefully they'll be able to advise more

I have your setup on mine  - 45's and megajolt, and it works fine.

You will need to make something up to mount the trigger wheel on the front pulley as the standard (internal) Vauxhall one is incompatible (wrong number of teeth).

You'll need a throttle pot for the 3D bit. I used the Vauxhall coil pack, but you could just as easiliy use the Ford one. I used a generic ford pickup for the timing wheel sensor. EDIS and coil pack were from Ebay.

Northampton Motor sport mapped my car without any problems (bit of muttering but it all went well) and I'm pleased with the result.

Other "ready to Go" systems are also avialable ,but cost more money.

Couple of pics of MJ on a X/flow and my XE install on the WWW link below. Check out "westfield world" too
