Tested today at notts with Martin (very helpful and explained every thing he was not happy with and how to fix it)

1) 101 DB instead of 99 soon sorted with a strategic washer and some wadding (on Martins advice!)

2) Non tethered fuel cap -done

3)Few dodgy radi- done

4)Speedo not working at all (must have done it when I fixed the hand brake adjuster on Saturday- did not notice until 7.00 this morning!!)

5)Did not like My interpretation of a immobilisor (seperate key operated switch for fuel pump)- does any one have any recommendations for a electronic immobilisor thats easy to fit and cheapish?

6)Wrong type of washer under seat belt bolt head???-Done but what the devil.

7)Lock stops set unevenly reulting in different turning circle-easy fix by altering lock stops.

8)Caterham style front indicator pods ordered to replace wobbly monstrosities on nose cone and associated wiring.

So all in all not to bad. Well pleased with how the car goes. Re test booked for end of month so plenty of time to get it sorted. b****y cold this morning with no screen (2`celsius).

Next on the list membership to become a fully paid up member!!

Cheers,Sean

Re 5 I wonder if you could fit a wireless relay in the starter.

I have one on my Zcars mini. Need to press the button on the fob and hold to start the car.

You shouldn't need a separate immobiliser for the IVA test although handy afterwards apart from more connections and wiring to have issues with. The ignition key was the only lockable device when I past mine a couple of months ago, maybe this is just a case of Inspectors variations.

You need a minimum of two forms of immobiler for IVA normally this would be an ignition key and a steering lock, but I'm guessing in this instance that the car hasn't got a steering lock.

QUOTE
Check, in addition to the normal “ignition” switch, that the vehicle is permanently fitted with an anti-theft device or an electronic immobiliser that can be activated to prevent the vehicle being driven or moved under its own power.

A mechanical anti-theft device could be a steering lock or transmission lock. An electronic immobiliser can be activated by the ignition key (so would not be obvious) or could be separate - activated by a little fob type device.

A manually operated battery master switch or a removable steering wheel would not be considered to be an anti theft device.
