boris77 Posted April 30, 2011 Posted April 30, 2011 Any one who has had an injector failure on a VAG170 diesel engine (Think its the 170PD engines in the main with Siemens injectors) might want to look at this. Linky. Basically someone from an audi forum has taken it up with VOSA who want people to come forward and report it. They will then take the matter up with VAG. Could be worth a go if you have had an injector fail as it appears they are ~500 quid and failure sounds like its complete engine cut out (not fun on a motorway). Quote
warby1984 Posted April 30, 2011 Posted April 30, 2011 Hi mate i work for volkswagen. Injector failures are common we get them in the passats with pd engines and they are loads to repair, its about 800 Quid with labour, its best to check out a main dealer as they are offering goodwill even if you car is out of Warranty. If you want to repair yourself you need to remove rocker cover and disconnect injectors from loom and check injector element resistances, one will show up or other alternative is to pull one off at a time and see if engine starts this will find bad injector. It will need injector and loom to repair as its the loom which causes the fault. Its just a matter of taking of rocker shaft and replacing injector. You can get the injectors from euro for about £170 some of the lads at ours do loads of foreigners. Forgot to add i thinks its disgusting how you buy a car and have to shell out £800 pounds after a few years something must be done. We get customers who break down on motorway and are towed in we tell them its injector, goodwill pay for it, they ask can you change all 4, no were not allowed Just one we tell them, we will then see them back a week later bieng towed in with another one gone, very poor customer service! boris77 Posted April 30, 2011 Author Posted April 30, 2011 Thankfully I've got the newer CR170 engine and haven't been affected. (shortly changing to a 1.8TSI), but reading all the troubles people have had it does seem pretty poor service from VAG. Bit like the Teeves ABS unit problems. Quote
