JeffC Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 taking my lad to 3 sisters Tuesday to do an endurance race, we r coming from the north east which is the quickest way just looked on race route planner says down the M6 but I was thinking A1- M62 anyone Quote
Gromit Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 Dont know if this will be of any help but you can only get off at M6 J25 if your coming northbound as from M62. If you come past it south you have to travel a couple of miles to J24 where you can turn round to get back on the northbound carrageway. And dont forget yer passport. Quote
pistonbroke Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 M62 then M60 to M6 Jnc 25 then right at roundabout at end of long sliproad A49 its signposted from there . Watch out for the sneaky speed cam on A49 you drive through an industrial estate to get to the track Quote
JeffC Posted April 19, 2011 Author Posted April 19, 2011 think the rac routplanner must have issues, put in going A1 and it suggests 131 miles but 5hours 30mins compared to 120 miles 2hours 50 down M6 Im sure years ago it only used to take a couple of hours to get to Belle View in Manchester Quote
JeffC Posted April 19, 2011 Author Posted April 19, 2011 QUOTE And dont forget yer passport and will I need a translator to understand the locals Quote
funbobby Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 ha ha - I went passed it at the weekend - we went over the 66 and down the M6 Coops and the M62/A1 on the way back - not much in it really. 66/M6 was easiest to find it. Come off the M6 onto the 58 then just follow the road into the city centre passed Aintree and its sign posted. Left hand turn. It is through an industrial estate mind. Quote
Steve (stevel) Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 Just follow your nose you will smell the pie's Quote

rustie Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 Wot Mr Anson says. It's easy access from M6 Southbound: I'm from Carlisle so that's how I get there. Depending on where you are in Geordieland, A69-M6 or A66-M6 should be easy peasy. Just looked at the date of your post. If you were going today my advice was a little late. Oops. Quote
pistonbroke Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 Its a lot quicker and easier to find the track by exiting Northbound off the M6 . There is no exit southbound at Jcn 25 , exit M6 at Jnc 24 (Ashton in Makerfield )then U turn over the motorway then go back to the northbound Jnc 25 exit . Quote
JeffC Posted April 19, 2011 Author Posted April 19, 2011 followed nav down, M6, took 2 hours 30, came home M62/A1 took 2hours 10 mins inc going through the 50mph for 20 mins at wethereby! oh and what a cracking little track that is! first time there qualified 7th out of 30 , unfortunatley the other driver we were sharing the kart with binned it loosing 30 seconds sending my lad to 23rd, he drove the last 1hour 15 mins and finished 7th so a decent recovery but think we had the pace for top 5 Quote
wacomuk Posted April 20, 2011 Posted April 20, 2011 if you come down the m62 dont turn off for wigan come off for st helens A580 east lancs. The 3 sisters is only 1 mile from the A580 its 5 miles from wigan town center Quote
