PEC - Plane engined cars, the future.

Now, I wonder if I can find a couple of Merlin engines on fleabay, I fancy building a twin engined car.

Already been done in 1933 with the Napier Railton   It still holds (and never to be broken) the lap record around Brooklands.

chill out m8

serious answer is - if you like driving more than fiddling and have limited tech knowleadge then it has to be car engine every time

bike engione may perhaps be the ultimate buzz but they be higher maintenance and if you are unluck they can also go pop and busa engines aint that cheap to replace - although blade engines are cheaper but have less go

I know you wanted a performance gain over your old motor so just sit tight until a nice tuned zetec/VX or duratec comes along

this would be nice with a change of roll bar/cage - stick your other wheels on a bingo - with 2-3 k on the engine spent you could have a bit of a monster on yer hands (not sure what the 75 box will take but would perhaps be ok)

this one looks lovely and is probably a quicker car dependant upon setup but has in the main the right bits - may not be much quicker in a straight line though

this would be my choice - shame there is a dealer margin on it - this would be a very quick car if setup right and ripe for a sequential gearbox in a handful of years time if ya fancied the upgarde

that serious enough for ya

catch up soon m8

The car/bike/aero engine debate will run on as long as there's fuel to put in 'em.  :D

It wasn't a tough call for me when I first looked around, and nothing I have seen or heard since has convinced me otherwise:

You take an engine that was designed to power an 1800Kg car for 100,000 miles or more, and put it into a 560Kg car, over three times the power to weight ratio and you can expect it to do the job for a long time, or..

You take the engine out of a 200Kg bike (I have had a few and none of them got anywhere remotely close to 100,000 miles) and put it into a 500Kg car....

Would you put a lawnmower engine into a bike..

 Tongue only slightly in cheek!
