][\/][ajor Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 As the title says Anyone used a towing dolly to get a Westie to trackdays? Any legal problems in doing so or effects on the LSD? Advice would be appreciated. Like the idea due to taking up less space. Quote
Mark (smokey mow) Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 Blatman mode on A search will reveal they are only legal for recovery of vehicle to a place of safety. Also IIRC you are also restricted to a maximum speed of 40mph on motorways and 20mph everywhere else. http://boardroom.wscc.co.uk/cgi-bin....y863827 http://boardroom.wscc.co.uk/cgi-bin....y613096 http://boardroom.wscc.co.uk/cgi-bin....y392136 Quote

Norman Verona Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 Bernie, if folk only did what was legal, or more to the point, didn't do anything illegal wouldn't the world be a better place.... .... and boring. Quote
][\/][ajor Posted April 4, 2011 Author Posted April 4, 2011 Having read the threads suggested I think I'll find room for a trailer. Thanks for the advice. Steve Quote
MGF255 Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 A trailer`s probably the way to go because once you`ve looked into a "dolly" that`s up to the job you`ll need to be spending just as much as buying a trailer , at least with a trailer you can also use it to collect much more than cars ( mines had sofa`s , fridge`s and an engine on a pallet on it in the past ) . What was the 0-60 time of the pallet? I bet the power to weight ratio was good. Quote

There are systems available that actually apply the brakes on the car being towed. Google Chris Cox A Frames. If it doesn't then they're probably in breach of the requirements... Quote
