Anybody know the Law on returns on items bought off Ebay shops?

I bought some clothes off there the other day and they don't fit so want to return them and they are saying i have to pay for the return postage (fair enough) but they will also NOT refund the postage costs.... seems wrong to me why should i pay for both ???

not sure on legalities but I cannot see why they should refund the postage costs

unless it was not as described etc

Depends on whether the clothes were as advertised or not.  If they were, it's tough luck I'm afraid.  Think of it this way: If you drove to the shops and bought clothing in the size you wanted, drove home and tried them on there only to find out it didn't fit, then drove back and took them in for a refund, would you get your fuel and parking costs bacK?  Sorry, no.

If its a buisness seller (i.e. the seller is registered as a business ) they are governed by the "distance selling law" which afair says they have to refund all costs if the goods are faulty or not as described  :t-up:

I'm afraid Cleggy is correct. If the clothes are fit for purpose and one just bought the wrong size (even innocently), then the buyer is required to cover this cost. A b***h, I know but it seems to be the norm!

This is going to be like salt in the wound but .. a lesson for all: always check a eBay seller's return policy or have them confirm in writing (email or eBay messaging) what their policy is if they're are returns.
