Andy Banks Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 Chinook Or maybe its one of those self build jobbies that has a hydraulic section so bits can be put in and taken out. Still begs the question of how the sections get to ground level though. Working just off Euston Road and they have just finished erecting two cranes, they used the biggest road/wheel crane I've ever seen, something like this http://www.cranestodaymagazine.com/story.asp?storycode=2042683, which itself needed a smaller crane to get it going! cleowuss Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 On a building that tall I dont know. Could use a Helicopter as all the sections won't be that heavy say about 3to 4 tonnes or they may use one of the latest generation of mobile cranes with super lift and all the extra jibs. Long time since I used play with mobile cranes!! Richard Quote

Blatman Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 Dismantle it and lower down the lift shafts using a winch, before the lifts are installed? Quote
Paul Edden Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 Leave it there - put a bucket on the end of the rope - use it to clean the windows? Quote
DerekJ Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 The answer may lie in "how did they get it up there in the first place?" Quote
Stuart Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 When they built the Scottish parliament building they actually 'bricked in, a big mobile crane owned by a mate of a client of mine. He told them they had to keep paying hire on it or buy it so they had to unbrick it. Cost millions I'm told. Of taxpayer's money of course. And I bet part of the deal was it never got publicised. hilux Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 But the crane tower is inside the building core The crane tower will be left in there I`m sure or cut up by hand and removed. Quote
