pete g Posted March 3, 2011 Author Posted March 3, 2011 Got a quote from Peter James at race retro £156 fully comp. agreed valuation. Frank Pickles, quote on line £91 fully comp. no agreed valuation (yet) need to find time to ring and discuss. Got my renewal today from Footman James £180.!!!!! but as Perksy says has any one had a claim with Pickles (it isn't Stew pickles taking the money before doing a runner is it? they are both from Bingley ) Was told over 40 years ago by my then employer don't judge an insurance company by its premiums but by how well and how promptly it pays out when the brown stuff hits the revolving part. there just a broker insurance is with the same old companies that the others use. so should be the same service Quote
andyfiggy2002 Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 im quite happy with parts as i let WF do an insurance repair job 6 yrs ago when i had an off, never again as they milked it for all they could get replacing good parts not even involved in the accident & quality of workmanship shocking, anyhow rant over, you need to ring Frank Pickles, not do it online as apparently online they use a different underwriter costing more, for my piddly little 893cc its only £84.90 F/C, parts only, 2k miles per year with european cover, mind you i'm in my forties, no endorsements amazingly & live in sleepy Devon, also note there is no agreed value on this policy so its up to you whether you take the risk & of course we have no idea of their track record on pay out day if i were to write it off........this may seem like the wrong thing to say but someone hurry up & make a claim with them Quote
andyfiggy2002 Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 just rang them, underwriter is Highway otherwise known as LV which i didn't know as used Highway in past, THEY DO NOT DO AGREED VALUE only for caterhams they are willing to do members only discount but ask who is the person to contact here so maybe that person would like to contact FP to get a further discount for you boys as regards reassurance even though this is 4 x 4 read this LINKY Quote
Andy Banks Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 I'm with Highway through Sureterm. I'm sad to say I have made a claim recently and they have been very good about it, no arguments, agreed value, fairly sizeable claim and they are paying up for repairs. Quote
StuartMackay Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 Footman James £138 fully comp limited mileage to 1500 Quote
mikef Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 Graham Sykes fully comp £95.07 with mileage limit of 3000. It's with Highway (LV) and the downside is that I have just moved and they want £16 admin fee to make the address change since it's classed as a mid-term adjustment. Quote
Howard Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 Been with Sureterm for a few years now. Always been competitive but this year I thought I'd give Footman James a try. The assistant asked where I'd heard of them and I mentioned that they sponsor our Speed Series, keen to give feedback that their sponsorship raises their profile and generates sales. I declared that the car is used for competition use as well as on the road at which he put me on hold for a moment. When he returned he said they couldn't insure the car because it's used for competition and road use, but they could put me in touch with another company who would. I was too dumbfounded to challenge and ask: why sponsor the speed series then? Think I'll call again tomorrow now I've collected my thoughts. Meanwhile, Sureterm got my business again. Sounds like I should have given Frank Pickles a call, though. Quote

8pots Posted April 15, 2011 Posted April 15, 2011 Years ago I used Footman James who were pretty much the only company who would insure my V8. Last year, struggled with them but got cover through Adrian Flux. It was really expensive. I will try these people for mine when it is due in the summer Mike Quote
sparky21 Posted April 15, 2011 Posted April 15, 2011 Supercharged XTR2 footman james- £136 f/c 1500 miles per year, 29 years old and 9 points!!!! Points make prizes Lets be honest where you live has a massive difference on premiums Might have to try Mr pickles next time Quote
Graham_1964 Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 This was a very timely thread since my insurance is up this Thurs (12th May) and Adrian Flux have massively hiked my premium up to £210 (46y old, Full NCB on my other vehicles and good record etc). AF said this was definitely 100% the best they could do. Frank Pickles came in at £106 by phone and I immediately took it. It was so nice to deal with a polite and knowledgable person on the other end of the line at FP. Interestingly when I rang AF back just to check their £210 quote, after much searching of databases they miraculously were able to re-quote @ £105. Quote

I had exactly the same response from AF when renewing two weeks ago, they came back and magically managed to undercut Frank Pickles, I told them to ram it though Quote
