Norman Verona Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 When I had to rebuild my 7 which included a new chassis, I got a list of parts required priced up and supplied it to my insurer. I explained that this was worse case and I would probably be able to repair some items instead of replacing them (rad and rack were repaired). Having hung up agreeing the figures the phone rings and the engineer asks me how much I was charging for my labour. I declined as I felt it some how wrong to charge them for repairing my own car, especially as I was going to do a bare chassis repaint anyway. In the end it paid off as the engineer agreed to 4 new carbon wings when I couldn't get matching wings. Quote
greenandmean Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 Got a quote from Peter James at race retro £156 fully comp. agreed valuation. Frank Pickles, quote on line £91 fully comp. no agreed valuation (yet) need to find time to ring and discuss. Got my renewal today from Footman James £180.!!!!! but as Perksy says has any one had a claim with Pickles (it isn't Stew pickles taking the money before doing a runner is it? they are both from Bingley ) Was told over 40 years ago by my then employer don't judge an insurance company by its premiums but by how well and how promptly it pays out when the brown stuff hits the revolving part.
