Im not surprised ???

I would not buy a new build, I dont like the way they are built for one.

Will always stick to the 60/70s built house which is far better  imo.

I've also spent years rectifying all the diy and bodge ups in my place.

Gadgetman.

Your spot on there, bet you have had a few odd ones to

I agree with this.

My humble abode is just over 50 years old and with it came double brick walls (including the garage), thick floorboards and not one settlement crack in the brickwork.

We spent a lot of time looking for the right house, with the priorities being 1- area, 2- detached and 3 – large garage.  We have all on the wish list.

Houses built these days are something Airfix would be proud of.  In fact glued correctly, Airfix models are stronger.

I would agree with that!

It's not everywhere that within 20 seconds of leaving your house you can unleash 560 BHP for a good 10 seconds

Must every relaxed bit of a rant thread turn into sorry shouting :D

No shouting here, just a bit of sarcasm and helpful advice

Typed and deleted before posting lots of replies to this thread. In the end used the ignore button for the first time, deliberately.

Gadget mabn is that aimed at me? I honestly mean no offence if I have caused any, as previously said, I have nothing valuable to say as I've never owned my own property :)

No it wasn't, just agreeing with you about the shame the way some threads go..

Bought our current house off the in-laws who had lived here for 27 years……… :suspect:

One of the things they had done before we bought it was some electrical work and re-certification of the property by the MEB, (Midlands Electricity Board)…Cost ‘em over 1500 quid…. ???

Anyway 6 months later and I’m putting in a completely new kitchen. Wife is being awkward, (she is a woman after all…. :D ) and decides she wants the cooker moving onto the directly opposing wall.

I CAD up a spanky 3d model and she lurves it…

I crack on with fitting it and start by stripping out all of the old stuff and checking out the electrics.

When I remove one set of units I find that the whole of the electrical supply for the rear extension and conservatory is wired thro’ a 13 amp plug with a 13 amp fuse hidden behind the kitchen units!!!    :bangshead:

Lazy B*stard cowboy sparky f*ck wits….. :bangshead:  :bangshead:

I thought about complaining but decided instead it was more important to wire it properly than whinge to an apathetic clueless bunch of useless tw8ts… :p
